Prospects (Myers / Montero) for Veterans (Holliday/Choo)
I'm in a 16-team, 40-man roster dynasty league. We can keep all players permanently with no drawbacks. I went into the season thinking my team was in really solid shape: My infield was ridiculous with Pujols, Weeks, Tulo at SS, hanley at MI, Longoria at 3rd. My OF wasn't quite as stacked, but I thought it was solid enough with Carlos Gonzalez, Chris Young, Delmon Young, Nick Markakis, Seth Smith, and Grady Sizemore ready to come in and help
I'm fortunate that I have Wil Myers and Jesus Montero in my minors (the only top-notch prospects with any trade value on my team. Carlos Perez, Jason Adam, Peter Tago, Nick Weglarz all could be contributors eventually, but none have much in the way of trade value at the moment)
So I have a lot of interest in Myers and Montero. I two owners engaging me in trade talks at the moment: One offer is Myers, a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick for either Matt Holliday or Colby Rasmus. I made the offer and he's tentatively accepted (Holliday was 3rd among OF in points in our format last year)
The other offer is essentially Montero and a first rounder or Travis Snider for Choo. He wants to give me Berkman as well, but if I trade for Holliday, I won't need Berkman.
So those are my options. Trading for Choo and Holliday, to me, transforms my outfield from a liability to a huge strength, but I also love Myers and Montero. I was hoping to integrate them into my lineup, but the early performance of my team just didn't facilitate that :(

It sounds like you've already made your decision.
How many teams are in this league? Like 4?

Heh
16 teams. I’ve done pretty well for myself with some trades and good amateur drafting

Well then yeah, you have done a good job. Myers+1st/3rd seems like a good deal for Holliday.
Markakis just got hurt tonight.

Meh pitching
Felix was my first pick in our original draft. The rest of my pitching is:
Cole Hamels (also a pick in our 2005 draft)
Liriano (ugh)
Brandon Morrow (traded Brett Jackson and Scott Baker for him this offseason)
Matt Garza
Brandon Beachy
Edwin jackson
Clayton Richard
Jake Peavy
For closers I have
Mariano rivera
Craig Kimbrel
Drew Storen
Jordan Walden
Frank Francisco
My team should be dominating, but I’ve gotten no production from Hanley, Longoria, CarGo and Liriano, and almost nothing from Pujols, Delmon, and Markakis. I thought I’d be dominating, but I’m in 4th! (not far behind the next 3)

No offense
but does anybody else in your league even watch baseball? How could you possibly have (potentially) the top 4 players in all of fantasy (Pujols, HanRam, Tulo, CarGo) as well as Weeks and Longoria? RIDICULOUS!
original dynasty draft and amateur drafting
I traded for Pujols, giving up Braun (when he was still a prospect) and some highly touted pitching prospects that never panned out, plus a couple first rounders.
Drafted Prince Fielder in our original draft (he was still a prospect) and traded him and Matt LaPorta for Hanley and Desmond Jennings. Traded Jennings, Alex Colome, and Nick barnese for Carlos Gonzalez last year.
Drafted Evan Longoria with the first pick in our minor league draft in 2008
Traded Chris Young (the starting pitcher) for Tulo when Tulo was still a prospect in A-ball.
I paid more attention to the minors than anyone in our league for the first four years, and this is how it’s paid off.
