Machado or Montero
I am contemplating a trade in a long term dynasty league. Should I trade Jesus Montero for Manny Machado? The deciding factor here is which player has the greater long term value. The consensus of opinion would probably be that Montero has the greater offensive upside. But does he project the greater long term value seeing that Machado plays at the premium position of shortstop, while Montero is looking more and more like a player without a position. If Montero is a long term 1B or DH, his projected value takes a hit, especially when you consider his mysterious lack of power so far this year. On the contrary, prior to Machado's injury, his offensive stats this year have been outstanding. Tough decision for me. I'd appreciate some input.

Short-term: Montero. Long-term: Machado. Offensively too, not just position eligibility.

Montero
I think he is just in a slump like last year. He hit very well after an initial slump last year, and is still young for his level. I’d keep Montero since we know his track record a bit better. I am not sure if hs value takes a hit if he moves to DH or 1B. He can still hit and has 80 power IIRC.
Machado is solid, but has only played pro ball for about a month now.

Its not that I have lost faith in Montero. I just believe in Machado. What can I say?

no problem here
everyone has a right to voice their opinion…..I don’t dislike Machado…just like Montero a bit more since he is at a higher level and is still young for the level.

Take this deal and run laughing
Issue is who else do you have in the minors? can you afford to wait a few years? if so, Machado >>>>>>>>>>> Montero.
Position scarcity is the issue (Machado’s a lock to play SS while Montero is pretty much a DH) and the fact that Machado’s overall hit tool surpasses Montero’s.
