Fixing my bench
Hey Fantasy Gurus of the world! I am posting to see if you can help me out with my fantasy team. My starters are fine, in fact they have me at 4-2, and if it weren't for Longoria missing the first month of the season, I'd be 5-1. But injuries happen, and its how I found Alex Gordon in free agency who has worked himself into my starting lineup at utility.
But I'm coming to you all for help with my bench. In my draft, I took Infante to basically be the backup for my middle infield. However, to be polite...he sucks this season. And he is my backup 2nd and SS, I see that Yunel Escobar is available in free agency, and I really want to go after him to back-up Stephen Drew. However, if I dropped Infante chances are someone is going to jump on him, and that leaves me without a backup second basemen if Uggla goes down. And for 2nd basemen, there is absolutely no good players left. Any ideas??? Any sleeper 2nd basemen I should know about???
Thanks for the help Gurus!

Scott Sizemore?
Is Sizemore still available? He is starting at 2B for Detroit and should provide good value. Ty Wigginton was just re-activated from the DL and is eligible at a few positions and hits for good power. Jayson Nix should be returning too and he could add HR and SB to your team. You could also try grabbing Dustin Ackley as he could get called up soon. These guys should be better than Infante and aren’t owned in many leagues. Escobar is an excellent back-up SS and I wouldn’t worry too much about an Uggla injury. Deal with that when/if it happens. Fill your team with the best players available and adjust for injuries as they happen.

Also:
Would you drop Markakis for any of those 2nd basemen?

No
I expect Markakis will turn it around. His final season numbers won’t look great but he should get better from here on out. He has been worth owning each of the past 5 seasons so he should be a worthwhile player going forward. I just hope he picks it up soon.

You'll be fine man
If Uggla goes down I guarentee there will be a servicable second baseman. I drafted Aaron Hill who has been terrible. I dropped him for Mike Aviles of KC and he has been pretty solid thus far. He might still be available in your league and Aviles is eligable at 2b and 3b.

TyRay Felson for MVP!
As mentioned
Aviles, Sizemore, plus Darwin Barney, Daniel Murphy, if any of those guys are available, they’d make for more than serviceable backup 2Bs.
Also, keep an eye on Danny Espinosa
I wouldn’t look to add him now since he is not playing that well at the time, but he does have some power and speed. I also believe he has 2nd base and SS eligibility in most leagues.
