Billy Hamilton - Reds SS DOB: 09/09/90
Hamilton's triple slash of .210/.293/.286 is gruesome but he has stolen 24 bases in 29 tries. Hamilton is running wild on the basepaths with 29 steal attempts in 38 times on base. He has been a liability in the field this season with 14 errors in 31 games at SS.
Nick Castellanos - Tigers 3B DOB: 03/04/92
The Tigers hot shot third base prospect got off to a slow start this season. He has turned it on of late with a .367 AVG in his past 8 games. Castellanos is one of the youngest players in the league so the struggles are not surprising but if you're an owner of his you have to be hoping he continues his hot streak.
Zach Lee - Dodgers SP DOB: 09/13/91
The Dodgers young pitcher is pitching very well in his first pro season. In 6 starts he has a 1.17 ERA with 8.2 K/9. The ERA is high considering his 1.27 WHIP but he seems to be doing a great job of keeping runners from scoring.
Jonathan Garcia - Dodgers RF DOB: 11/11/91
Garcia is hitting for even more power than expected with 10 doubles and 8 home runs, ranking third and first in those categories. The Dodgers right fielder has hit well as a pro out of high school. Give him a few years but he should have a major league future.
Keyvius Sampson - Padres SP DOB: 01/06/91
Sampson continues to dominate the Midwest League. Through 7 starts he has 45 Ks in 36 innings and a 2.25 ERA. He has allowed runs in just 3 of his 7 starts.
Oswaldo Arcia - Twins DH DOB: 05/09/91
Arcia has yet to play in the field this season but has performed with the bat in a DH role. In 20 games he has 8 2B, 1 3B, 5 HR and 9/16 BB/K. His triple slash of .352/.420/.704 is the best in the Midwest League.
Shawn Tolleson - Dodgers RP DOB: 01/19/88
Tolleson has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the minors this season. In 15 relief innings he has struck out 33 while walking 4. His rate stats of 4.8 H/9, 2.4 BB/9 and 19.8 K/9 show that Tolleson is over-matching lower level hitters. He should work his way into the high minors this season and could even see time in the Bigs this year.
Yazy Arbelo - Diamondbacks 1B DOB: 04/07/88
Arbelo was one of the top power hitters in the Northwest League last year and he is back at it again this season in the Midwest League.. He leads the circuit with 9 dingers and has 8 doubles for good measure. Arbelo is older than most top prospects in the league so we won't get a true guage on his prospect status until he moves to a higher class. He should get a bump up the organizational ladder this season.
