Would you do this trade?

Hey guys,

I'm in a 12-team 6X6 h2h non-keeper league. I was recently offered:

Adrian Gonzalez, Travis Hafner, Vernon Wells and Johnny Cueto

for

Justin Morneau, Adam LaRoche, Delmon Young and Cliff Lee.

Do you think I should do it? Also, since Wells just got hurt, I could probably get someone else similar to him instead if that would make a difference...

I have a leaning already, but I'll reserve my opinion for now cuz I'd rather see what others think first.

Adrian Gonzalez is gaining all of his Power back now and has been huge recently. Lee is intruiging but honestly I would hold off and see what Cueto does with one more start. He has a much better hitting unit behind him than Lee does however Philly should be getting Utley back soon. I’m not sold on Morneau and he’s always hurt. Like i said I would give Cueto one more start and see what he does. Because right now I think the best player in this deal is Adrian Gonzalez and the best player you’d be getting is Lee…. Cueto could end up being just as if not slightly less valuable than Lee. That’s just my 2 cents. Keep in mind Boston’s right field pesky pole is only like 300 feet out. I hit a softball over a 320 foot fence the other day. A-Gon could easily hit 40+ bombs this year.

So you guys both think I should definitely do this? Won’t my pitching staff suffer a lot though with the loss of Lee? Is the downgrade of Lee to Cueto really worth the upgrade of Mourneau to Adrian?

Like I said, Cueto is a good pitcher as it is and I always try to get pitchers with a great hitting staff behind him because it increases his chances of a win which in my league at least gets you the most points. Cueto will produce. Lee barely got by against florida and Ricky Nolasco and didn’t even factor in the decision. A-Gon is far beter than Mourneau, in my opinion. If I were you I would do that deal. If it were Halladay or Lincecum? I would ask for a better pitcher in return but I think you get a good deal with that. Cincy has a much better lineup to produce runs… All Philly really has is an againg Ryan Howard, a declining Jimmy Rollins, an injury prone Chase Utely, an old Shane Victorino and an old Raul Ibanez. Cincy has young sluggers in Votto and Bruce.

People tend to not realize that Lee is a better real-life pitcher than he is a fantasy pitcher. I’m not saying he’s bad by any means, and he’d be far better than any pitcher I have on my fantasy staff (except for JJ), but AGon is a monster.
