Fantasy Player of the Day: Marlins First Baseman Gaby Sanchez
On the same day that Marlins first baseman Gaby Sanchez was named the NL Player of the Week, he was also named the Fake Teams Fantasy Player of the Day. Sanchez hit .464-.531-.786 with 2 HRs, 3 2Bs, and 10 RBIs last week and has started this week off just as hot. He went 3-4 with a run scored and 3 RBIs last night in the Marlins 6-4 loss to division rival Phillies.
Sanchez is coming off a 2010 season where he hit .273-.341-.448 with 19 HRs, 85 RBIs and 5 SBs. He was not ranked in my Top 12 First Baseman for 2011, but he is currently 7th amongst all first baseman in RBIs, but is leading all first baseman in batting average. For the season, he is hitting .341-.423-.550 with 5 HRs, 23 RBIs and an excellent 18-18 K/BB rate.
I think Sanchez can go 20-90-.285 this season, and it looks like he is well on his way to achieving that line.

I thought Gaby Sanchez was severely underrated at the beginning of last season when the talk was Sanchez or Logan Morrison for the Marlins.
It was necessary for Morrison to play the outfield because I never thought Sanchez would lose his first base gig. Now they both have the Marlins in the thick of the race. I think he can top 100 RBI and .300

100 RBIs
and a .300 BA would not surprise me. He has excellent plate discipline and hits cleanup, so the RBI chances could increase should Hanley start hitting, and stealing some bases.
