Perez's 11 steals rank second in the Carolina League despite playing in less than half of his team's games after missing two weeks with a rib injury. Eury stole 64 bags last year and was caught only 13 times. His bat lags behind his speed as he provides very little power but his speed allows him to maintain a strong batting average. If he adds some walks he could develop into a top lead-off prospect.
Mitchell has struggled to make contact since his return from a severed ankle tendon that kept him out the entire 2010 season. He has struck out 46 times in 117 at bats, resulting in a .205 AVG. When he is actually hitting the ball he is getting results. Of his 24 hits 13 have gone for extra bases.
The Indians 2010 first round pick is proving to be too much for Carolina League hitters. They are batting .162 against him and have struck out 42 times while drawing 10 walks. Pomeranz has a 1.27 ERA after 28.1 innings.
Mike Olt - Rangers 3B DOB: 08/27/88
The 2010 first rounder is batting .308 with 9 doubles and 4 home runs and a 20/28 BB/K ratio. If Olt can stick at third he could be a nice source of AVG and power in a few years. He could serve as Adrian Beltre's replacement.
Townsend's power has come through in 2011. He has 11 doubles and 6 home runs after 27 games and is sporting a .333 AVG. He has proven he can hit the ball hard but will need to improve his plate discipline as he has just 2 walks to 24 strikeouts.
Robert Erlin - Rangers SP DOB: 10/08/90
Erlin is picking opposing hitters apart. He has allowed a mere 14 hits in 36 innings while striking out 40 and walking 4. He has a 2.25 ERA which is actually higher than it should be for a guy with a 0.50 WHIP. The inflated ERA is thanks to 5 home runs allowed. Erlin gives up a lot of fly balls and will need to limit the damage caused by long balls.
