Keeper Trade Help - Pedroia
Aaron Hill is the 2B on my 10 team keeper league team (Espinosa has been picked up to replace Hill while he's on the DL) and I was thinking of trying to upgrade by making a deal for Pedroia. I guess I'm not all the way on the Hill will rebound bandwagon if such a bandwagon exists. The deal that has just been offered to me is the following:
I send Nelson Cruz and Jose Tabata
I get Dustin Pedroia and BJ Upton
I don't completely love this deal. I figure Cruz goes down at some point this year and Tabata almost certainly won't keep up this pace, but I'm not sure Pedroia and Upton are the guys to make that bet with. I thought I would try to get some feedback as to how I can make it better for myself or see if it was even worthwhile at all to go for Pedroia. In our league we can keep up to $90 worth of players with a max of 8 guys held so I don't really know who will be worth what until after the season and new values come out but I doubt I would hold Pedroia if I had him regardless.
Rosters are C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B, OF, OF, OF, UTIL UTIL, SP, SP, RP, RP, P, P, P, P, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, DL, DL. Standard 5x5 scoring.
My current team: Carlos Santana (C), Lance Berkman (1B/OF), Danny Espinosa (2B), Kevin Youkilis (1B/3B), Hanley Ramirez (SS), Jason Heyward (OF), Justin Upton (OF), Jose Tabata (OF), Nelson Cruz (OF), Jacoby Ellsbury (OF), Pedro Alvarez (3B), David Ortiz (UTIL), Aaron Hill (2B - IR)
Max Scherzer (SP), Francisco Liriano (SP), Jon Lester (SP), John Danks (SP), Derek Holland (SP), Ricky Nolasco (SP), Michael Pineda (SP), Jeremy Hellickson (SP), JJ Putz (RP), Jordan Walden (RP), Joel Hanrahan (RP), Brian Matusz (SP - IR)
The team I'm looking to deal with: Nick Hundley (C), Joey Votto (1B), Dustin Pedroia (2B), David Wright (3B), Jimmy Rollins (SS), BJ Upton (OF), Alfonso Soriano (OF), Jason Bay (OF), Howie Kendrick (1B/2B), Ike Davis (1B), Nick Markakis (OF), Aubrey Huff (1B/OF), Joe Mauer (C - IR)
Clayton Kershaw (SP), Mat Latos (SP), Alexi Ogando (SP/RP), Brett Myers (SP), Shaun Marcum (SP), Hiroki Kuroda (SP), Brandon Morrow (SP), Aaron Harang (SP), Joakim Soria (RP), John Axford (RP), Francisco Cordero (RP), Brad Lidge (RP - IR)
I also already have 3 Red Sox hitters and adding Pedroia would bump that up although Oritz has almost exclusively been on my bench so it's not like all four would be in my starting lineup. Coco Crisp is available as a FA so I was almost hoping to make a 2 for 1 deal involving Tabata so I could just replace him with Crisp. Any feedback is appreciated.

I would sit tight
Hill may not be a complete rebound but I think he’s capable of 25 HR again with a .260+ AVG. He will be good enough to make it worth keeping Tabata and Cruz. Upton can’t seem to figure it out. The drop from Tabata/Cruz to Upton is not worth the upgrade from Hill to Pedroia.

I agree completely
There’s no way you can do this deal! Cruz is likely a top 15 player and Tabata ==Upton. IMO, you’re trading Cruz for Pedroia. Not awful, but I wouldn’t give it any thought. Cruz is a monster!
Thanks guys
Thanks, I just wanted to make sure. Even looking at the ZiPS projections for the rest of the season Pedroia isn’t THAT much of an upgrade over Hill/Espinosa (Raburn is also available as a FA if Hill/Espinosa do absolutely nothing) to lose out on Cruz so I’ll stand pat.
Meh
I drafted Hill and dropped his ass. I lost my patience. I am currently trying to upgrade at second base myself. If I were you I would replace Tabata with Lester and ask for Pedroia and Kershaw. See if he bites on that.

TyRay Felson for MVP!
I think you should sit tight as well
Tabata’s BA will be much higher than Upton’s and Tabata will steal 35+ this year. Cruz is excellent when healthy.

Other thought
After the article on here about Markakis I did consider countering with Ellsbury/Berkman for Markakis/Pedroia but I don’t know if that one would get any consideration from the other owner. I’m using Berkman as a 1B right now so if I dealt him then I would have to move Youkilis to 1B and Alvarez from my bench to 3B every night. I would then just drop Espinosa for a speculative 1B or an OF like Crisp and hang onto Hill to see what he does.
