10 Team Fantasy Baseball team... Feedback please
Hello everyone I am new to Faketeam but have heard of it from Denver Stiffs where I post all the time.
Pitching is innings pitched is .5 points, a win is 10 points, a loss is -5 points, a save is 5 points, a strike out is 1 point and a walk is -1 point. I picked 9th and my team is as followed. Let me know what ya'll think please. I took 3rd last year and 2nd the year before. Last year my team featured Miggy Cabrera, Hanley Ramirez and Tim Lincecum to name a few. Here is this years team:
1b: Ryan Howard, Freddie Freeman
2b: Aaron Hill (tor), Reid Brignac (tb)
3b: Pedro Alvarez (pit 4 hole hitter), Pablo Sandival
ss: Tulo, Brignac
C: Matt Weiters (Bal), Montero (AZ)
OF: Cargo, Travis Snider (Tor)
OF: Heyward (Atl)
OF: Stanton (FL 4 hole hitter potential HR champ)
SP: Chris Carpenter (Stl)
SP: Matt Cain (SF)
SP: Yovani Gallardo (Mil)
SP: Chacin
SP: Brendan Morrow (Tor)
SP: De La Roas
SP: Matt Garza (Chc)
RP: Jose Valverde (Det)
RP: Leo Nunez (Fl)
RP: Matt Thornton (Cws)
Any feed back would be appreciated.. I got Cargo 9th overall and Tulo 12th. Both were projected 1st rounders but pitching went high in the firts (Halladay and Felix Hernandez) so I was able to grab both. I am very happy with this team. I have 6 potential 30+ hr 90+ RBI guys in Howard, Cargo, Tulo, Heyward, Stanton and Alvarez plus 3 15+ winning pitchers in Carpenter, Gallardo (Brewers Ace), and Cain (great postseason) with the possibility of Chacin and De La Rosa having huge years. I went young and under the radar with this draft. I hope it pans out. Any feedback would be much appreciated!

By Tulo and Cargo
I mean Troy Tulowitzki (Col) and Carlos Gonzalez (Col) I originally posted this on Purple Row but was directed here. I think both of these playersd will have monster years especially with Tulo complimenting cargo while hitting clean up. Did he carry if of your teams through the playoffs last year?

Risky Team
Third base could be a problem with Alvarez’s strikeout troubles and Sandoval’s struggles last year.
I like Hill to improve this year and you have a nice set of closers. Apparently Nunez’s slider is looking really good this spring. He could be a bargain closer this year. Tulo is a nice pick at 12.
A lot of risk with your starting pitching but you should have a few good years from a few of those guys. Your outfield may not be as good as you think as none of them may hit the 30 HR 90 RBI you expect of them. One of them should hit both of those marks, maybe two will.

I know what yea mean
with the Outfielders and my ushing optimism for them but these are the 3 guys I have watched throughout last year and this pre season and I just love all 3 of them. I was so happy I landed pick 9 because that is literally where they all landed in most mock drafts and player ratings in teh respected rounds I got them (Cargo 1st, Heyward 5th, Stanton 7th).
My Starting Pitching is weak but I think Gallardo will have a break out year much like Ubaldo Jiminez out of Colorado last year. He has some incredible stuff. Cain made a name fr himself lastyear in the postseason and he should be pitching for a contract soon if i’m not mistaken. Chacin will have a big year as I have been following him a lot (i live in Colorado). Big risk team. They will either be awesome or just a mediocre team at best… we’ll see,

Agree on Gallardo
He could totally have an Ubaldo like breakout. I also agree that Stanton could hit 40 this year. The strikeouts unfortunately will hurt his value in this format.

Very solid
At first glance you have a surplus of power and shortage in sb/avg. Something like a Stanton for Elsbury swap would do the trick.

I know what you mean
and while I love my SB guys (last year I had McCutchen and 2 years ago I had Crawford) More HR guys make up for that. I value Stanton high, very high and Honestly wouldn’t trade him for much right now. I picked him up the minute I heard he was called up last year. I really think he will hit 40 homers this year. I have been watchin him. Worst case is I could deal one or both of my thirdbaseman for some speedy guys and there are still some speedy guys out there as FA’s liek Chone Figgins i could use occassionally but for now I will stick to my power guys.

Sorry
Didnt look too closely at the scoring. Looks like HR are much more valuable than sb’s…dont even see avg as a scoring cat. Lots of K’s there….but with so many sluggers its to be expected.

Yea HR are a lot
especially with baserunners. 6 points is just a solo shot.. a 2 run shot would be 8 points in itself and a grand slam is 10 plus a 2 point bonus so 12 total. Basically in this league you either build a dynamic pitching staff or a bunch of double/HR/RBI guys. If you try to spread em out you usually don’t do as well. I obviously went the first 4 rounds all hitters which I rarely do. I still believe I lucked out with a pretty decent staff for making power my strength. And avg is not really considered it’s just scored 1 point for a single, 2 points for a dbl and 3 points for a tripple.
You play head to head with a team for one full weeks worth of games so sunday through sunday. Usually all of your starting pitchers will get one start some maybe 2 some maybe none so SP is risky. Some weeks you’ll have your aces going twice but none the next so you will split those 2 games where as hitting you could win both etc. That is why i chose batting this year opposed to pitching last year. Except I was more of one of those split 50 pitching 50 batting teams last year that won 11 games but still took 3rd cuz my pitchers got hot in Spetember.

Update
I won this week and put up a 490 spot on the scoreboard… the next highest score was 460… I have made a few minor moves: Dropped Brignac and added Josh Beckett to my pitching staff, put Morrow on my DL and added James Walden (closel Angels), and I dropped Snider and added Alphonso Soriano. So far so good =)
