Keeper Question: Wainwright for Pedroia
So let me give you a little back ground information. We get to keep 5 players in an auction keeper league, where it's $260 to bid on players. I am already keeping $37Miguel Cabrera, $18 Justin Verlander, $5 Delmon Young and $7Jayson Werth. I own Adam Wainwright at $8 and am considering dealing him for Dustin Pedroia for $13.
The starting lineups are small for hitters. CA,1B,2B,SS,3B,3OF and 2 Util.
The best available starters will be Felix Hernandez, Dan Haren, Cole Hamels, C.C. Sabathia and possibly Matt Cain. Robinson Cano is going to be kept and then after that, pretty much every 2b will be available.
I don't want to spend a lot of money on all 2b,SS and 3B, so I figure getting Pedroia will allow me the money to pursue Hanley Ramirez,Jose Reyes and Derek Jeter at SS and David Wright, Alex Rodriguez, and Adrian Beltre at 3rd.
My theory is by having Pedroia on the cheap, I can overspend a little bit on those other guys previously mentioned. Let me know your thoughts ladies and gentleman. I want to know who you would rather have Wainwright or Pedroia, and then if you like my ''game plan'' or not.

I’m not an auction expert but I have a couple issues. First you are saving money by having Wainwright since he is costing well below his market value. I think you are saving more money with him at $8 than you will with Pedroia at $13. Also, how did either of these guys go that cheaply in your auction? Are second basemen and starting pitchers generally under priced in your league? If Cano is kept does that also mean Pedroia is also being kept if not traded by his owner?
If all the 2b besides Cano (and possibly Pedroia) are avaialable I wonder if you could get Uggla or Brandon Philips, etc relatively cheap if you toss their names out there early? Personally I think I would keep Wano and bid for a 2b. There does not look to be anyone better than Wainwright after CC is gone anyway. That’s not saying Felix is less than Wainwright, but at least I don’t think any of the pitchers available after CC has a decent chance at having more wins than Wainwright. The other categories will be fairly close.
Wainwright
I misread it initially. I thought you said all 2bman would be kept.
I would keep Wainwright in this scenario.

2B is so deep this year, that in a mixed league you’re better off just waiting to the end and bidding $1 on the likes of Ryan Rayburn, Neil Walker, Gordon Beckham, Martin Prado or Danny Espinosa.
Keep the cheap studly SP. The whole “hitter over pitcher” thing tends to get overblown at times. You have to keep what is best for your team.
