Dynasty Trade Help

In a 30 team dynasty league should I give up Pedro Alvarez for Freddie Freeman and a so-so 1st round pick in the upcoming, 2011 draft.

My team is:

C- Buster Posey

1B- Brett Wallace

2B-

3B- Pedro Alvarez

SS- Alexei Ramirez

OF- Bourn, Luke Scott

Bench: Morel

SP: Danks, Hellickson

Minors: Lawrie, Iglesias, Trout, Hak-Ju Lee, Guillermo Pimentel, Drabek, Lyles, Allie, Arodys Vizcaino, Garrett Richards

We have young players(in between their 1st and 6th year) for 6 years minimum. Alvarez is going into his second and Freeman would go into his first. I have a pretty good pick, expecting it to be, and some late picks in the first. He has Ackley so should I try to get ackley instead.

Alvarez

I like Alvarez over Freeman and definitely over Ackley. Alvarez provides more fantasy value than either of those two hitters imo. Plus he has 4 months of big league experience under his belt, and could approach 30 HRs as soon as 2011, but more likely in 2012.

you do have a hole at 2nd base, so if you could get Ackley, the 1st, and something else of value, I might do that. I say this because, with Lawrie working out at 3rd, you may have a quickly-arriving replacement for Alvarez who may not have his power, but might have a better all-around fantasy contribution. (the reports on Alvarez’s weight scare me too—you may be best off waiting for Alvarez’s eventual move to 1st, dumping Wallace, and plugging Lawrie in at 3rd.)

agreed also

I wouldn’t trade Alvarez until I’ve seen what Lawrie or Morel can do for me at 3rd. Wallace isn’t an ideal option at first but in a deep league like that you can get away with a player like that since he will be starting everyday. Alvarez is more likely to be a top 10 at his position than either Freeman or Ackley.
