Fantasy Baseball Keeper Deal

Hello,

New to Fake Teams and I really like what I am seeing so far!

I am in a 16 team dynasty league and and the categories are: R, HR, RBI, AVG, SB, BB, 2B, 3B and W, K, ERA, WHIP, SV, HLD, IP, QS. I was proposed the following deal:

I GET:

Asdrubal Cabrera - CLE/$1.75m - 1 year
Jose Bautista - TOR/$13.5m - 4 years
Dan Haren - LAA/$15m - 2 years
Mike Leake - CIN/$4.25m - 4 years
Alex Rodriguez - NYY/$20m - 2 years
Mike Trout - LAA/$3.75m - 5 years
Shelby Miller - STL/2.5m - 5 years

for

I GIVE:

Elvis Andrus - TEX/$10m - 3 years  
Matt Kemp - LAD/$20m - 2 years
Justin Verlander - DET/$15m - 1 year
Derek Holland – TEX/$2.25m - 2 years
Brett Lawrie - TOR/$3.75m ($5m 2013-2015) - 4 years
Arodys Vizcaino - ATL/$1.75m - 3 years

What do you think? I like the youth and potential I get back in return from this deal..but I am not sure. Could use some help.

I was also proposed: Andrus for Jeter (8m/1 year) and Mike Minor (10.5m/4 years)--not bad I guess?!

Any input is appreciated and I would be happy to help in return!

1. Not nearly as sold on Asdrubal as many, so I say that the SS is a wash.
2. Kemp>Bautista (HUGE Dodgers fan, don’t try to change my mind here)
3. Verlander>Haren
4. Holland<Leake (In time, I like Holland a lot, but Leake has ace potential IMO)
5. Lawrie could be better than A-Rod this upcoming year, and will be a superstar for a long time.
6. Miller/Trout>Vizcaino. The two of them could be argued as the best pitcher and positional prospects.

So. You win two categories, lose three, and tie one. I would go with a no, but a yes is excusable.

I agree with what you said.

Kemp and Bautista are close given their contracts in my league and Kemp will be SUPER expensive when he hits FA in a couple of years in the league.
I like Leake a lot and getting Trout and Miller on such favorable contracts is nice. I am tempted to take it but I have love for Lawrie, so it is tough but might be worth it.

What are your thoughts on the Andrus for Minor and Jeter deal?

Seeing as you’d get only two-three years out of Jeter, it almost entirely depends on who else you have at SS in your system.

Jeter is only on a 1 year deal and SS is pretty thin, most have been taken. That is why the first trade isn’t bad. Not sure I am as big of a believer in Minor…
If I trade for Cabrera, I can option him at year end and resign him long term.

idk abut jeter being anything more than a hitting threat.

i cant see him getting more than 25 SB’s at the most, and 5-20 hr’s. which is a stretch.
he good very well hit Anywher from .290-.350
and he’d still be 1 or most likely 2 in a very good yankee line-up. so idk about the rbi oppurtunities. but i expect a lot of runs.

considering this is a keeper and arod/bautista are old as f**k

i’d decline. if you would like to have a solid team for the next 3-5 years.
if you wanna win within the next to.
i’d consider the deal a little more
but i’d try to keep kemp. it seams that the centerpeice of this deal are andrus and verlander.
play around with the guy for a little. see what you can do.
no deal is a final offer.
i suppose this was one of the first offers, so counter and see what u can get

interesting take

Bautista will be 31 at the beginning of next year. he has been solid for a few years now, so he could continue but his age may catch up to him. I guess the Trout/S. Miller combo really intrigued me and then getting a few years from Bautista, because I would have Delmon Young in LF, Trout in CF, and Harper/WIl Myers in RF and Joey Bats at DH in say 2013-2014. 3B I could play ARod till his dang contract runs out or put Joey Bats at 3B and then have D. Young, Trout, Harper and Wil Myers. Part of me really wants this deal. (Like I said, I could resign Cabrera for less than 10m) However, part of me hates to let Verlander go…(would have to re-up him for 25+m at year end…damn!) and to let Kemp go, but I just still am uncertain. My pitchers for the future would be: Miller, Banuelos, and Casey Kelly. I could talk forever, still need to think it over and figure it out…damn.

well i like your future pitchers...

i am really in love with the deal if u could keep kemp.
im assuming the guy who offered you this is the guy who offered the jeter trade. if not then what im about to say may be either useless or completley true.
as i said. the deal seams to be centered around the league MVP verlander, and the very good SS elvis andrus. so you could get away with keeping kemp, who i think is the best player in this deal. i think the fact that verlander is the AL MVP could go a long way on the negoatiating table. and if he is the same guy with the jeter trade. have him swap cabrera, for the 2 he would give you in the jeter deal. i will finish the rest when or if you would like to tell me if he is that guy

The Guy who offered Andrus for Minor and Jeter is actually a different manager. I would be up for hearing your idea though. A three team deal idea I had was:
I get: Miller, Minor, Trout, Leake, A-Rod, Bautista, LeBlanc, and A. Cabrera.
Manager 1 gets: Andrus
Manager 2 gets: Holland, Kemp, Lawrie, Vizcaino, Verlander, and Jeter

i think adrubal is somewhat overrated.

and i’d take jeter and kemp over asdrubal.
i think letting manager 1 keep asdrubal is the only way to keep kemp. and kemp is a far better player imo. he’s a 30/30 .300 threat every year from here on out.
before i give you a final offer do you mind if i see your roster. but right now knowing the players you have i’d offer:
manager 1 gets andrus, torii hunter +1 of your bench players.
manager 2 gets: verlander, bj upton, lawrie, holland, Vizcaino
you get: jeter, arod,bautista, haren, and either miller or trout.

this may seam like manager 2 is getting the best deal. but think of it as you getting kemp in this deal.
manager 1 is only giving jeter and bj upton.
manager 2 is giving a lot. but i think you can sell him on verlander being the MVP, and lawrie’s pure pottential.
