Fantasy Football 2011: Week 10 Tight Ends Rankings
As if two days of professional football wasn't enough, the NFL decided to graciously add games to Thursdays starting tonight. Unfortunately not all cable operators carry the NFL Network, so we fantasy nuts will constantly have to hit "refresh" on our NFL.com browsers to stay updated.
With that being said, the Chargers and the Raiders square off tonight where TE Antonio Gates looks to keep his scoring streak alive. Should Gates stay healthy and QB Philip Rivers is indeed healthy as he says he is, Gates will be a top-3 TE going forward.
Tight Ends to Buy Before the Trade Deadline: Jermichel Finley, Jake Ballard, Brandon Pettigrew, Jason Witten
Tight Ends to Sell: Vernon Davis, Tony Gonzalez, Dallas Clark, Kellen Winslow
Ranks After the Jump...
Players I Like This Week: Greg Olsen, Brandon Pettigrew

question
do most leagues require owners to submit their lineups before tonight’s game or can you make changes leading up to Sunday at 1pm?
The league I participate in allows us to make changes up to Monday night if needed. Meaning you can’t change what has happened on Sunday, but if you have a player going Monday, you can switch him out for another player on your roster if needed.

You have the right idea
Thursday players have to be set tonight, Sunday 1 PM players have to be set that morning/afternoon, 4:15 players have to be set in the afternoon, and Sunday/Monday night players can be subbed in any time until about 10 minutes before kickoff.

My big-boy league is the same
You can change any player’s active or reserve status up until 5 minutes before his game kicks off. I have been in leagues where all lineups must be finalized before the first kickoff of the week, and I hate it.

Yeah...
Gates owners should only have to worry about tonight’s lineups

Olsen or Davis?
Or, does it even matter? I’m extremely wary of Davis with Helu getting as many targets as he did last week and Beck being completely unpredictable. Olsen has Shockey to compete with (for some reason) but both the Titans and Dolphins have given up big production to TEs this season. Anybody have any thoughts?

I think I'd go Davis
But it’s pretty much a coin-flip. You can probably expect very similar production from the two. I just don’t think Helu will possibly get that many targets ever again (it’s Shanahan, this is probably Tashard Choice’s week, anyway).

Agreed.
The pass game is Davis and Helu.
Beck was locked into Davis before last game…and Davis still had 60+ yards if I’m not mistaken.

Yeah, plus Davis had an ankle injury that week
and according to the reports I read, he was 100% in yesterday’s practice. I’m going Davis unless anything changes.

Olsen and Ballard
I have both on my team. I am going to start olsen. Anybody think i should go with BAllard?
Hernandez or Daniels?
They’re ranked right next to each other up there ^. I like Hernandez but he has been slumping just a bit, and I don’t know if I like the match-up with the Jets. Daniels has a much better TE match-up vs the Bucs. Who should I go for?
GO ROCKIES!
I'm a believeR!
Actually
Daniels has posted significantly better numbers this year in games that Andre Johnson played in. Without AJ, defenses can focus on Daniels, which has been freeing up Dreessen in the red zone, and forcing the Texans to lean more on the running game in general. I’m starting Pettigrew over Daniels this week.
Interesting point
I looked at the numbers, and you’re right if it’s a standard league since he hasn’t scored a TD in games when AJ isn’t playing. But IMO he still has value in a PPR league, especially with the matchup. Pettigrew is certainly a better option until AJ returns.
I also took a look at Hernandez, and I don’t think I would characterize his last three weeks as a slump. He’s scored TDs in three straight games. He’s competing with Gronkowski, who has been cash money in PPR, and put in a beastly performance last week against the Giants.
I think I’m still starting Daniels over Hernandez this week in PPR, but in a standard league I would probably go Hernandez and ride the TD streak.
