SB Nation Baseball Awards: Jose Bautista Wins American League MVP Award
Today, we publish the 4th SB Nation Baseball Award, the American League MVP, and Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista narrowly beat out Red Sox outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury to win the award. I am surprised as Ellsbury's breakout year won me over this season.
Jason submitted the AL MVP ballot for Fake Teams and here is how he voted:
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, BOS
2. Curtis Granderson, NYY
3. Justin Verlander, DET
4. Jose Bautista, TOR
5. Miguel Cabrera, DET
6. Ian Kinsler, TEX
7. Dustin Pedroia, BOS
8. Adrian Gonzalez, BOS
9. Robinson Cano, NYY
10. Ben Zobrist, TB
A look at the results for all of SB Nation's baseball writers after the jump:

I'm confused...
It looks like there are 23 votes total for Bautista.
22 votes total for Ellsbury.
24 votes total for Cabrera.
Did a person actually leave Bautista off their ballot and TWO people leave Jacoby off their ballot?

Looks like it
Pretty insane voters out there.

yeah
it appears some sites chose not to vote….ok, more than some. I think going forward it should be mandatory. I mean, how difficult is it?
I am not sure what is worse, not voting or giving Kershaw a 5th place vote in the NL CY voting.

A 5th place vote still gets points
Leaving the top two players off the ballot completely is just absurd.

Yeah, but even if a site chose not to vote entirely, the ballots should still be even.
How could two people turn in ballots without Ellsbury?
On the other hand, the baseball writers of america typically do a lot of weird/bad voting too.
