PrintThe baseball season sure is flying by... As many of the top prospects continue to make their debuts, it may be a good time to start kicking the tires on who the top 10 or 15 prospects are for 2011. Ray eluded to this in his minor league post today. Only 2 players in the top 15 (of MiLB's top 50 list) are still in the minor leagues - Desmond Jennings and Dustin Ackley. Other than them, the rest of the top 15 is in the majors and likely won't have prospect status to start next season. New draftees such as Bryce Harper will surely be in consideration (assuming he signs a contract)... and guys further down the list have a chance to move up significantly (i.e. Mike Moustakas, Eric Hosmer, and Chris Carter). And then there are the youngsters who have broke out this year - most notably and often talked about is Mike Trout. There will be a detailed post coming up regarding some of the top candidates for the top ten spots... Jeremy Hellickson may very well enter the discussion for the #1 spot if he doesn't get enough service time with the Rays this season...
