From Buster Olney's twitter:
"Executive involved in Cliff Lee talks: The Yankees-Mariners deal 'is just about done.'"
Twitter is abuzz right now with Cliff Lee to the Yankees rumors, the Yankees will be giving up Jesus Montero in the process. Lee is actually scheduled to pitch against the Yankees tonight, so we could have a "walk between the clubhouses" type of deal.
Assuming the deal goes forward, the fantasy impact is probably fairly negligible. Lee moves to a tougher stadium and a tougher division but gets a vastly improved offense behind him. A slightly higher ERA and slightly more wins are to be expected, but overall the impact should be minimal.

more from Joel Sherman via Twitter
This will be a 2- or 3-prospect deal from #Yankees to #Mariners. Seattle really values bats of Montero/Adams for 2011 lineup
Adams is second base prospect David Adams

Lee to the Rangers
In terms of fantasy, Lee’s value is affected the same as it would have been had he gone to the Yankees.
The real change is Justin Smoak who is hurt pretty significantly by this move. He moves to a less prolific offense in a very cavernous park. Not good considering his main upside is in the home run department.
4:31pm: The Mariners also get Josh Lueke and Matthew Lawson, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports (via Twitter).
Multiple other reports confirm that the Mariners obtain Lueke, Lawson, Blake Beavan and Smoak for Mark Lowe, Lee and cash.

Any reason to believe he could see better pitches to hit?
I’m trying to look for the positives in owning Smoak for the rest of the season… This is not good for my team. I seriously hope he makes Texas regret this move. Guess they had more confidence in Davis than we thought.

one would think
as he should be hitting in the middle of the MAriners lineup. I think they had the luxury of having two guys for one spot and took the opp to deal for the best SP in baseball right now.

Just posted my writeup over at my blog. I really like this trade for both teams, and I think that of the two 1B, Smoak is the better fit for Seattle as his swing should still translate reasonably well. He may not hit as many homeruns, but I could see a .300 season with 20+ hr and a high slugging percentage there for him regardless.

I don’t know where to put this suggestion, so I’ll throw it in here. Can somebody please write up a post analyzing the prospects involved in the Lee deal?
