Mauer?
There is a guy in my league that has Posey and Mauer. He's looking to move Mauer, wanting an elite 3B or SS in return. I've got Beltre at 3B and Reyes at SS with Russell Martin filling my C slot. I'm thinking of offering Beltre for Mauer (with the slight chance of asking for Mark Reynolds to fill my hole at third). What do you think? Seems fair for both sides.

Non Keeper league, right? I am assuming so.
I’d be shocked if you could get Mauer for Beltre. I know Mauer has not been hitting for power at all, but his name seems likely to carry more value from other owners. That would be a perfect use of buy low/sell high if you could though.
It seems like a fair trade at this point though.
Dynasty league, so we keep everyone.

No Way He Accepts
In a dynasty league, Mauer is exponentially more valuable than Beltre. I certainly wouldn’t call Beltre an elite 3B at this point, though he is having a good year. He is significantly older than Mauer, and simply not as good a hitter.
But if he does accept, somehow, then you make out like a bandit.
Agreed with all above
If you can pull it off—by all means go ahead.
Don’t know how large your league is, but Russell Martin is so overvalued, so if he wants Martin as a backup C and you throw him into the deal, you’re really not losing any more unless it’s like a 20-team league or something.

12-team league.
I offered Beltre for Mauer and Reynolds. If he doesn’t bite, I’ll throw Martin into the mix and see what happens. Thanks for the feedback.

Beltre for Mauer AND Reynolds?
if he accepts, can you please invite me into your league? I don’t even think Beltre for Mauer is anywhere near close!
He's at the top of the standings, and doesn't use Mauer at all.
I’m hoping he thinks acquiring Beltre will push him over the top. Wishful thinking, I know, but you have to dream big.

trade offer etiquette
The problem with ‘wishful’ thinking as you say, is that when you throw out a trade that lopsided is that you tend to not be taken seriously in the future. Considering this is a dynasty league, I would be worried about this happening in the future. I know in my dynasty league’s as an active trader who prides himself on not offering insulting deals, I have a handful of guys who I don’t even go to anymore for trade ideas.
An owner who offered me this kind of deal would be on that short list.
Now consider this. If he really wanted to trade mauer and reynolds, don’t you think he might be able to get something a lot better than beltre from another owner? (esp. In a keeper league!) I would think wright or maybe even longoria (depending on a team’s needs) would be fair value at 3rd base.

I'm not too worried about the etiquette aspect.
We’re all good friends and usually low-ball the hell out of each other on first offers. He knows I’m not serious, and I was 99% sure he wouldn’t accept, but it gets the ball rolling.
We went back and forth for a while, but couldn’t work anything out. Thanks for the input, though.

Haha good luck with that one.
