Blockbuster Trade Advice
Hey guys, I'm in a 14 team H2H league with standard 5x5 scoring. Someone proposed me this:
I RECIEVE
J. Lester
M. Teixeira
S. Drew
I GIVE
E. Longoria
C. Kershaw
I figure I would probably shop Bartlett and either try to get back a solid 3b or just use Freese and Rolen interchangeably. I also think Freese is in for a big year, especially the way he has been playing lately, so I'm not terribly concerned about the 3b vacancy.
My Team:
C- M. Napoli
1B- C. Pena
2B- I. Stewart
3B- E. Longoria
SS- J. Bartlett
OF- J. Upton
OF- M. Holliday
OF- C. Granderson (DL)
UTIL- Andruw Jones
B- S. Rolen
B- D. Freese
SP- T. Hanson
SP- C. Kershaw
RP- L. Nunez
RP- F. Morales
P- B. Anderson
P- F. Liriano
P- C. Perez
P- J. Vazquez
B- T. Gorzelanny

not bad...
You are getting Teixeira who has had slow starts in the past but will normally turn things around. So the Teix for Logoria is pretty much a push IMO. Same with getting Lester for Kershaw. So it’s like someone is giving you S. Drew for nothing which is not that bad.
I would make that deal
in a second. Tex will rebound like he always does, and he hits in a hitters park.

Re: not bad
Yea that makes sense, I think that Longoria gets the edge above Teixeira because of the position scarcity and the steals. I’m also making an effort to dish Kershaw because I’m sick of his awful control and the fact that he doesn’t pitch deep enough in to games to get wins (although he’s getting poor run support).
I think you do this in a yearly league – maybe not in a keeper league.
Lester is better than Kershaw and Tex will be one of the top ten players from May onward. Stephen Drew is at least as good as Bartlett over the course of the season and I think will be an upgrade after all is said and done.
If it were me, I do the deal. You could probably get something for Pena so you don’t feel like you have to play him for his power but get killed by his average… Tex gives you some more options for further deals.

Now I just need to upgrade 3B or just play the hot hand in David Freese. I’m making an attempt to acquire Mark Reynolds, but I don’t know if its going to happen.
Freese
I think Freese will be pretty good… depends what you would have to give up to get Reynolds – I wouldn’t sell the farm for him – I see Freese as a guy who will be in the 15-25HR range and will get opportunities for RBI in the St. Louis line-up…. AND he will hit for average which is a huge negative for Reynolds – Freese has hit below .300 exactly once in at any stop in his professional career and that once he was at .299. After this good trade, stick with the hot hand.
