Fangraphs' Marc Hulet on Nationals pitching prospect Drew Storen
As for Storen, young closers are quite volatile. They tend to burn out quickly. I also have some concerns over the right-hander’s current lack control issues (three walks in five spring innings, 4.38 BB/9 in 10 double-A games in ‘09) so he may not be a reliable closer option for another few seasons.
Marc raises a good point about Storen. Something I had not thought of regarding drafting Storen in the UBA minor league draft.

My sources in Cincy
say there is a good chance that Chapman starts up.
storen
it seems the Nat’s management has every intent of making Storen the closer sooner rather than alter and I wouldn’t worry to much about a sample size that small. but it is tough to use that high of a pick on a player whose value is strictly based on role and not skill. you have so many picks it may be worth a shot, but it is a tough call.
No brainer
to take Storen. Small samples sizes shouldn’t trump an organization’s intentions. With so many picks, there is no question at all in my mind.
