Rate My Team
Here is the first of my three fantasy football teams. It is a 12-team PPR league, and I selected 1st overall and choose Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson. I had little doubt about that pick.
What I wasn't so sure about was which positions to address at the 2.12/3.01 turn. I had been seriously entertaining a QB/WR if any of the top QBs were available (Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or Peyton Manning).
When Tom Brady was selected with the 2nd pick, I had a feeling taking a QB was unlikely. After Brady, Drew Brees was selected 7th overall. Then Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers were taken in the 2nd round as was Arizona Cardinals QB Kurt Warner.
Those selections solidified my strategy to draft amongst the next group of QBs later in the draft. In another surprise turn, Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan was selected in the 3rd round as was Dallas Cowboy QB Tony Romo and San Diego Charger Philip Rivers.
My immediate adjustment was to put off selecting a QB until later and take advantage of the fact that top WRs and RBs will be available when I picked who otherwise wouldn't have been thanks to the surprise early drafting of QBs.
I believe my roster bears out that assessment.

| 2.12 | 24 | Steve Smith | CAR | WR |

This team is championship caliber...
If McNabb holds up. I would feel much better about the team if you had gotten another RB (depending on who was there) with either your 2nd or 3rd rounder. But I absolutely love your late rounders (and by late rounders, I mean in the 2nd half of the draft). Getting Holt was awesome, and he could be starting once Delhomme starts sucking and taking away from Steve Smith’s numbers. Ginn will also be a solid guy, and could be partnered with McNabb for a better QB after McNabb’s week 5 fall off (as he always has). Finley has a chance to evolve into a mid tier TE this year, and Charles and Scott are in solid position to take over for weak starters. Your only weak point would be the saints, but that can be replaced by a good defence at some point, though they will pile up INTs. Keep an eye on the wire for Jacksonville D.

Saints Defense
The league doesn’t penalize for allowing too many points and isn’t overly generous for lower scoring efforts (just 3 pts for 7-13 pts allowed and 1 for 14-20). So I gambled the team will improve under the blitzing scheme of Greg Williams.
I considered another RB at the 2.12/3.01 turn but took a risk I’d get one or two at 4.12/5.01 after seeing 5 QBs taken in first two rounds. Grabbing two elite WRs kept me from reaching amongst the Eddie Royal types. When Thomas and McFadden, two receiving capable RBs, were there, I jumped.

I can't say much about where you got thomas, but read Skeller's earlier preview on Overrated RBs
Pierre Thomas, NO (ADP: 34.94) — He’s hurt. He’s sharing time with a now-healthy Reggie Bush. And RB Mike Bell looks very good so far. What’s the attraction? Sure, he looked good last year, but he only has 181 career carries. He makes Johnson look like a veteran and people are picking him up in the 3rd round? I don’t get it. He’s unproven, he’s sharing time and he’s on a pass-first offense. This guy isn’t even close to a third round value.
With that said, I like McFadden enough for a low-end #2 high end Flex guy. Plus reaching for Royal proved not necessary since you got Ginn and Holt later. I’m sure you could do well with a Mason/Holt/Driver type at the #2 there and still be championship caliber.

Thomas
Disagree on that. That said, here are the players that went in the 23 picks after. I don’t think there is any obvious player at that point I should have taken. However, I am not omnipotent so I do want to hear a differing POV.
Clark, Dallas IND TE
Gonzalez, Tony ATL TE
Moreno, Knowshon DEN RB
Olsen, Greg CHI TE
Bush, Reggie NOS RB
Addai, Joseph IND RB
Benson, Cedric CIN RB
Cutler, Jay CHI QB
Lynch, Marshawn BUF RB
Johnson, Larry KCC RB
Gates, Antonio SDC TE
Roethlisberger, Ben PIT QB
Wells, Chris ARI RB
Williams, Roy DAL WR
Jackson, DeSean PHI WR
Mason, Derrick BAL WR
Holmes, Santonio PIT WR
Celek, Brent PHI TE

I like..
Benson..by far and,…
Addai
Bush
Lynch
R. WIlliams
Better than P. Thomas. I think he is AT BEST going to get 200 carries. and if he is a stud and goes 4.5 per thats still only 900 yards. Addai and Benson are locks to get 1000

I should say that...
I am a huge fan of getting Lynch late. Ive done in in 2 of my drafts and he is a sure think top 15 after the suspension…
Its worth 3 weeks of a L. White or B. Wells starting to get Lynch in after that.

WRs
I had two in Jennings and Smith who will start every week and wanted to take a receiving RB.
Frankly, I expect Ahamd Bradshaw to be a Top 10 player in the weeks Jacobs sits and to be a legit Flex starter. Unfortunately, it looks like Pierre may miss Week One and may get to put my money where my mouth is

Your team has championship potential, 3 solid rbs, a decent qb, two stud receivers, great job

i disagree
i like the fact you pulled bernard scott, he will be better than benson by season’s end. Like I said, having Mcfadden would have made me risk the Bush pick, but you risked PT cruiser, which isn’t all that bad either. You did a great job considering having the first pick you didnt land a top QB

Addai and Benson
Can’t say I do. Mostly based on what I expect for 2009. It is much closer than historically than I’d have thought. Esp if Benson can remain the starter for a full season and catch 30 passes.
Best PPR season (1 pt per 10 yards)
Pierre 2008 = 193
Addai 2007 = 274
Benson 2007 = 132
