Baseball Prospectus' John Perrotto
On the Beat, Midweek UpdateYankees right-hander Joba Chamberlain: "I’ve never seen more fuss made over how a pitcher is used than this guy. If the Yankees are so obsessed about him possibly breaking down then they should just stick him in the bullpen and leave him there."

My issue is the Yankees are experimenting on him with a method that is unproven. While there is correlational/anecdotal evidence that big jumps in innings pitched by young pitchers lead to injuries, there is no evidence in preventing that by limiting major league innings.
The dogma building around this reminds me of the should-be-more-famous line from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. After being wowed by Sir Bedevere’s knowledge of how to tell that someone is a witch, the next scene opens this way:
Sir Bedevere: …and that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana shaped.
King Arthur: This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep’s bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.
