MLB Trade Rumors: Matt Holliday To The Mets?
After hearing that the A's traded for Padres OFer Scott Hairston last night my assumption was that GM Billy Beane is ready to deal OF Matt Holliday.
Or, maybe Mets GM Omar Minaya has seen enough from his team after they got swept on back to back weekends by the Yankees and division rival Phillies? The Mets are currently 4 games behind the division leading Phillies in the NL East, and 3 games behind the surging Marlins. The Mets are also 5 games behind the wildcard leading San Francisco Giants. They now go home for 3 games vs the NL leading Dodgers starting on Tuesday, so things aren't going to get any easier.
The Mets are not the only team that is looking to deal for Holliday. The Braves and Giants are also pursuing him, and the Giants GM Brian Sabean has already let it be known that he is looking for a RH bat, whether that be a 1Bman or a LFer. That statement takes the Giants out of the market for Adam Dunn, Adam Laroche and Nick Johnson, and Sabean could be targeting Holliday. I will throw the Reds into the Holliday pursuit as well, and they have plenty of major league prospects that could interest A's GM Beane.
Should the Mets trade for Matt Holliday now?

What are the Mets looking to give up for Holliday?
Beane is content with taking the two draft picks and is only looking to unload Matt for a kings ransom…
"Where's the beef?"
at this point
you give up Parnell and other prospects if you want to compete for the wildcard or division. Not sure they will give up FMart, and don’t think they should. Maybe you give them Parnell and Murphy?
