Preseason Fantasy Rankings: RBs 11-20
Hey! I read your lousy Top 10 RB rankings and you missed a bunch of guys! DeAngelo Williams! Brandon Jacobs! Chris Johnson, hello?! You suck at this!

Johnson, Chris |
TEN |
I have no idea how he put up the stats he did last season. With a killer schedule this season, I'm thinking he's going to be less valuable in 2009. |
|
12 |
Williams, DeAngelo |
CAR |
Had the best season of his career last year. And I don't mean "his career so far" I mean "his entire career". There's no way he gets close to last season's stats. |
|
13 |
Grant, Ryan |
GB |
Doesn't look like much, but defenses are so worried about Rodgers/Jennings/Driver that before you know it he has 1200 rushing yards. The lack of TDs (4 last season) keeps his value down. |
|
14 |
Westbrook, Brian |
PHI |
His surgery will cause people to shy away from him on Draft Day. If he comes back healthy, he will be a machine in the Philly offense. Or the surgery could be the beginning of the end. I don't know which one it is, and neither does anybody else, so I'll put him here for now. |
|
15 |
Addai, Joseph |
IND |
He broke down last year and now has to contend with rookie Donald Brown. I think he could be a Top 10 fantasy RB this season. The guy is only 26 after all. |
|
16 |
Jacobs, Brandon |
NYG |
He was successful last year because the Giants could throw the ball and Derrick Ward could run the ball. Can the Giants throw the ball? Can Ahmad Bradshaw run the ball? I say "not really" on both counts. |
|
17 |
Tomlinson, LaDanian |
SD |
The Chargers are so wary of him breaking down that they made a benchwarmer with 106 career carries their franchise player. Should make a decent RB2, but even that's a risk. |
|
18 |
Benson, Cedric |
CIN |
Pssst, here's a little secret - Benson is going to have a very good season in Cincy this year. Don't tell anybody. |
|
19 |
Jackson, Steven |
STL |
The Rams are going to be pretty bad. That might be good news for Jackson though as there's nothing easier to do than hand the ball off. |
|
20 |
Gore, Frank |
SF |
Averaged 11 fewer rushing yards per game with Shaun Hill as the starting QB. And San Francisco will probably start Shaun Hill. Don't forget he'll be sharing the load with Glen Coffee too. |

Cedric Benson
Better than Gore? Better than any starting RB?! Okay, I need a little more explanation here…. :)
Hard to believe...
but true. Last year Benson only played in 12 games, but his yds/game average worked out to a 1000 yard season over 16 games — and his yds/gm average has increased every year of his career.
I expect the Bengals to be better this year, so take that and a full 16 game season of Benson and a need to rely on the rushing game more with Housh gone…..suddenly reaching Gore’s 2008 stats of 1036 rush yds and 6 TDs looks very possible.
Benson?
I understand your logic on projecting his yardage over a 16 game season but you conveniently don’t mention that in his final two games last season, against defenses ranked 28th and 30th against the run, he racked up 282 yards. Without those two games he was averaging just 53 yards per start and that’s not even mentioning that Benson has never managed to play 16 games in a season.

who in their right mind is really going to take Addai over LT, S Jackson and Gore?
Addai’s had one 100 yard rushing performance in his last 22 starts, he struggles to stay healthy and the Colts drafted a first round running back. What’s the upside with him?
At least LT, Jackson and Gore can say that they are the unquestioned starters who will receive the majority of the carries, including goal line, and each of these guys will most likely catch more balls that Addai.
Oh and the “benchwarmer” that got the franchise tag in SD had twice as many 100 yard games last year as Addai.
