Around SBN: Interview With UMD Athletic Director, Dr. Debbie Yow

"The chances of his birth certificate being accurate are zero," the scout said. "That's both birth certificates. Remember, he was David Arias [when he played in the minor leagues for] Seattle."

That scout's reasoning is extremely flawed

if I remember correctly, the reason Ortiz changed his name was a rule by the MLB that only one person can have a certain name, and Ortiz was forced to change his to Ortiz from Arias.

If his birth certificate doesn’t say David Arias, then yes, there’s cause for question, but I think Ortiz is just another guy who’s body and skills caught up with his age, see Mo Vaughn

"That's not a weird stat. Rickie is a run-scorer," Yost said. "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter," Yost told reporters. "See, you guys have no concept. He's a run-scorer. So there's nothing weird about it. That's what he does."
