That scout's reasoning is extremely flawed
if I remember correctly, the reason Ortiz changed his name was a rule by the MLB that only one person can have a certain name, and Ortiz was forced to change his to Ortiz from Arias.
If his birth certificate doesn’t say David Arias, then yes, there’s cause for question, but I think Ortiz is just another guy who’s body and skills caught up with his age, see Mo Vaughn
