Friday's Roto Round Up: Carl Pavano Throws Shutout, Mat Gamel Drives In Three

Friday's roto round up is highlighted by a former Yankee hurling a shutout and more injuries for the Mets.

SP, Carl Pavano, CLE-Pavano threw a complete game shutout vs the Whitesox, allowing only 3 hits, 2 walks, and striking out 6. He lowered his ERA to 4.63.

MR, J.J. Putz, NYM-Putz will have elbow surgery and be out for 2-3 months. I wonder if his will result in more multiple inning saves for tFrancisco Rodriguez.

Colorado Rockies-it appears the Rockies will be selling real soon. They just called up OF prospect Carlos Gonzalez who will play everyday, for now. The loser in this move is Ryan Spilborghs, who will probably be traded. Look for Huston Street, Garret Atkins, Spilborghs, and possibly Brad Hawpe to be dealt.

SP, Dallas Braden, OAK-Braden won his 5th game of the season, throwing 7 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 7 vs the Orioles. Braden lowered his ERA to 3.41.

OF, Matt Holiday, OAK-Holiday hit his 8th HR of the season, and now has 36 RBI and is hitting .286. He is quietly getting his AVG up, and is driving in some runs. I am sure GM Billy Beane will have no problem moving him in the next month or so.

SP, Kevin Millwood, TEX-Millwood  gave up 1 run in 7 innings vs the Red Sox to win his 5th game of the season.   Millwood had a 7/10 GO/FO ratio, but still lowered his ERA to 2.96.

3B, Edwin Encarnacion, CIN-Buster Olney recently wrote that the Reds are looking for a 3bman. Is Encarnacion moving to LF or getting dealt when he returns from the DL?

C, Geovany Soto, CHI-is there a bigger disappointing hitter than Soto in NL only leagues? Soto must be hurt as Koyie Hill will be getting more starts now. Soto has 1 HR, 12 RBI and is hitting .209. Oh yeah, and I drafted him in the 4th round in my snake draft league.

MR, Daniel Schlereth, ARI-the Diamondbacks closer of the future pitched the 7th inning last night vs the Padres and struck out the side. Does GM Josh Byrnes deal closer Chad Qualls for more prospects??

OF, Chris Young, ARI-Young hit his 4th HR of the season, and went 2 for 3 with 2 walks and 2 SBs. Could he be turning the corner? I know roto owners are hoping so.

3B, Mat Gamel, MILW-Gamel went 2 for 4 with 3 RBI. He is hitting .256 with 9 RBI in 39 ABs. Bill Hall has 13 RBI in 147 ABs. Sounds like at least a  platoon situtation at the very least, or Gamel should start as he has the better bat.
