Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports the Cleveland Indians are ready to deal OF/2B/3B Mark DeRosa and are looking for young pitching in return. He mentions' the St. Louis Cardinals will not part with any of their relievers.
Maybe I am more aware of how inconsistent middle relief because I play fantasy baseball, but I think major league clubs should be too. It is not as if fantasy baseball isn't rife throughout the under-40 crowd in the major leagues.
To think the Cardinals would pass on a player of Mark DeRosa's abilities at the cost of Kyle McClellan is ridiculous. The NL Central is there for the Cards' taking and improving the infield production by replacing Joe Thurston with Mark DeRosa appears to be a no-brainer.
Poll
Do you believe the Cardinals refused to part with Kyle McClellan, Chris Perez or Jason Motte for Mark DeRosa?
Not in the slightest. Buster's source selectively omitted something in the ask/bid. (113 votes)
Yes. Bullpen help is inconsistent, so a team should ride the good performances. The Indians are welcome to Dennis Reyes and Josh Kinney. (72 votes)
