ESPN's Rob Neyer on whether Johan Santana is the best pitcher in the majors
Is he the best pitcher in the game today? Gee, I don't know. When you consider the difference between the leagues, I suspect that the argument comes down to three pitchers: Santana, CC Sabathia, and Roy Halladay. Well, and Lincecum, and maybe Chad Billingsley, too.
If you choose Santana, I probably can't find any objective standard to argue that you're wrong. But I'm not sure you'd be right, either.

At this point in time?
It’s Greinke – and it’s not even close. That Billingsley entered into the conversation but Greinke (or Wandy Rodriguez, for that matter) didn’t is puzzling.

I don't think
they are talking about best in 2009, they are talking about best in baseball…every year.
Greinke has done it for a few months, Wandy-Rod-same story.
Billz-a little over one year…Lincecum the same.
not too puzzling.

Halladay
He may be the second best behind Santana. Extremely reliable and excellent. Of course, I never stop thinking a veteran pitcher is a start away from becoming Kevin Brown.
