Trading Low: David Ortiz

This week has been spent dissecting what is wrong with Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz.  I decided to sell low on Ortiz in my AL-Only 4x4 keeper league.  Because of position issues, the looked like this (player, salary, last year at salary):

DH David Ortiz, $22, 2011
C A.J. Pierzynski, $11, 2010

for

C Joe Mauer, $18, 2011
OF Franklyn Gutierrez, $10, 2009
OF Nolan Reimold, $5-10, 2011

Mauer was the player I wanted but to get him I had to send a catcher-eligble back to the other team.  I also have Brandon Inge, but he is awaiting a move to my corner when Matt Wieters is recalled.

That left Pierzynski, a perrennially under-respected catcher who has had an excellent 2009 season and still has no threats to his ABs in Chicago.  He is a Jorge Posada lite.

So now I am looking at a Ortiz/Pierzynski package for Mauer.  Did I get enough in Gutierrez and Remold to make-up for the inclusion of Pierzynski?

Aside:  In my 16-team mixed redraft league, Ortiz was dealt straight-up for Colorado Rockies' OF Dexter Fowler.

Thanks

How much did the inclusion of Pierzynski hurt me? Will Gutierrez and Reimold do more than AJ?

You done good. I’m sitting on Ortiz in 2 leagues, and nobody wants to touch him with a stick.
