Wednesday's Roto Round Up: Rickie Weeks Break Out Year?
Wednesday's roto round up comes to you as I'm watching the Reds just dominate the Diamondbacks in Arizona, and am listening to Mark Grace talk about the Jimmy Buffet concert he is attending tomorrow night-what else does he have to talk about? Certainly not the DBacks.
2B, Rickie Weeks, Milw-Weeks hit his 9th HR and drove in 2 runs to raise his RBI total to 24. He had 3 hits on the night and he raised his AVG to .286. Could this FINALLY be his breakout year?
OF, Gerardo Parra, Ari-Parra homered in his 1st major league AB off of Johnny Cueto. Who gets sent down when Connor Jackson comes off the DL? Parra or Young?
SP, Randy Wolf, LAD-Wolf won his 2nd game of the season over his former team the Phillies. The wins do not tell the story of the season Wolf is having. He lowered his ERA to 2.77, and has a 44/17 K/BB rate.
SP, Shairon Martis, WAS-Martis won his 5th game of the season, pitching 7 innings and allowing just 2 hits and 4 BBs vs the Giants. He now has 5 of the Nats 11 wins.
CL, Kip Wells, WAS-Wells got the save for the Nats, but he allowed another run in doing so. Manager Manny Acta indicated that Joel Hanrahan will get more save opportunities.
1B, Lance Berkman, HOU-Berkman broke out of a long slump with 4 hits, 3 runs and 2 RBI in the 'Stros 15-11 win at Coors Field.
SP, Ricky Nolasco, FLA-Nolasco didn't make it out of the 4th inning last night, allowing 8 runs on 7 hits and 2 walks. Is he hurt? Is it time to waive him? I am certainly getting close to dropping him-I have him in all 4 of my leagues.
UT, Chris Coghlan, FLA-Coghlan started in LF last night, and his his first HR of his major league career. Who gets traded first-Jeremy Hermida or Dan Uggla?

YES
After wanting to throw my phone on the ground while following the 4th inning of yesterday’s Marlins game I’d have to say Yes in a very big way.
Ricky Fiasco
It’s time to bench him at least and wait for him to get hot again. His career numbers against the Brewers weren’t good and they held out. He’s been getting very unlucky.

I did drop him in a league where I am trying to hold on to Matt Wieters and David Price in two of my three bench spots.
I’ll admit I just added him in my yahoo! public league, but immediately dropped him to pick up Matt Gamel as 3b is more of a need than SP. I was planning on keeping Nolasco on the bench until he figures it out, but my pitching isn’t terrible and I have Lackey coming off the DL this weekend.
I do have Nolasco in another league and he’ll get benched, but I’m not ready to give up on him. He was an injury risk for me at the beginning of the year b/c of the innings increase last year, but he got off to a slow start last year, too, so I think he can still turn it around.

Is it time to dump Swisher?
Swisher’s cooled of quite bit since his hot start and I’m wondering if it’s time to look for other options. He hasn’t had a multi-hit game since April 29th, although he’s had multiple strikeouts in six games over that stretch. He’s only one homerun in his last eleven games and his average has fallen from .312 to .252.
Are we finally seeing the Swisher we all grew to hate from last year and should I drop him for a better option?
Nolasco
His peripherals aren’t what they were 2nd half of last year, but they’re still solid. I don’t think he’s hurt, I think he’s just a 26 year old with little ML experience finding his way. That said, his BABIP is 39%! That’s going to come down, and with it his ERA. Bench him until the luck pendulum swings his way is what I’d do personally.
Frankly, I’m more worried about Josh Beckett right now. He has a more significant injury history and he’s walking way too many guys.
