Monday's Roto Roundup: Another Quality Start From a Pirates Starting Pitcher
Monday's roto roundup is highlighted by the first major league start by Nationals SP Jordan Zimmerman and NO HRs were hit at Yankee Stadium:
Jordan Zimmerman - Zimmerman won his first major league start vs the Braves by throwing six innings on Monday. He gave up 6 hits, 1 BB, struck out 3 while giving up just 2 runs via a HR to Matt Diaz.
Joel Hanrahan - manager Manny Acta confirmed that Hanrahan is still his closer. Hanrahan made him look good by saving Zimmerman's first major league win. Should Hanrahan continue to struggle, Acta could turn to Joe Beimel or recently recalled Garrett Mock.
Jose Valverde - Valverde a 1-2-3 9th inning on 9 pitches in Monday's loss to the Reds. Valverde appears to be back to good health.
Dustin Pedroia - Pedroia went 4-6 with 3 RBI and 3 runs scored in the Red Sox 12-1 win over the Orioles.
Justin Masterson - Masterson won his first game of the season vs. the Orioles, throwing 5 1/3 innings, giving up 4 hits, 2 BBs, 1 run while striking out 3.
Nate McLouth - McLouth went 2-4 with a HR, SB and 4 RBI. He now has 4 HRs and 13 RBI two weeks into the 2009 season. So much for the drop in power.
Ross Ohlendorf - Pitching coach Joe Kerrigan is working his magic with the Pirates young starters. Ohlendorf won his first game of the season throwing 7 shutout innings, giving up only 3 baserunners, and k'ing 5.

Some More
Washington Nationals: Joe Beimel pitched first two thirds of the 8th inning and recent call-up Garrett Mock pitched the last third. If current closer Joel Hanrahan does lose his job, these two appear to be the next in line.
2B Felipe Lopez, Arizona Diamondbacks: His Opening Day two-HR effort justified all the pre-season hype that Lopez would be the player most fantasy experts projected him to be – a 20/20 sleeper. After last night’s 2-5, he is a .352 lead-off hitter who has drawn three walks and attempted one SB. He hasn’t gone deep since those two HRs two weeks ago. I’m selling high if I can.
