What do you believe in most?
Sabermetrics? Gut instinct? Only what you see? Old school?
Some are really into sabermetrics while others want to watch a guy play. There is a school of thought that says a person will see what they want to see and everyone should leave it up to the numbers. Others will preach that numbers can be misleading, nomatter what saber stats are used. Then there are the "old school" numbers such as OBP, doubles, K/9, OBP against, etc that people zero in on. And others just go on their gut instinct.
I have to watch a player in the field, at the plate or on the mound to make a judgement. I am sure others will feel differently. Plus I always throw in a little gut instinct. Saber stats help when making the final call. But of course any stats help. I just think that everyone is going to know the saber stats anyway, so why bother that much?

Me
I tend to be Old School. Let me see how many strikeouts and walks a player takes or deals. Let’s take a look how many hits are allowed. What types of hits a player gets when he does make contact, and what all of them have done previously. Then does that player have the opportunity to do something with their skills.
I'm basically Old School
Some sabermetrics make sense to me but I still tend to look at the old school stats. I also like to see the player as well.
I'm a product of Ron Shandler.
I picked up my first copy of Baseball Forecaster 3 years ago and it changed the way I looked at fantasy baseball. Sabermetrics all the way with a bit of gut instinct. But I’m almost exclusively a numbers guy. Show me a batter’s PX, SX, SBO, h, eye, BB rate, and ct and I don’t care what he looks like. I didn’t even know Joey Votto was caucasian until this spring.
