Fantasy Baseball Draft Results: Roto Arcade Pro-Am 16-Team Mixed League

Drafting from the three-hole in the Roto Arcade Pro-Am 16-team 27 round mixed league,  here is the team I drafted.  My approach was to take the best available player with an eye towards protecting AVG and addressing scarcity.   Given the size of the league, I did not intend to let closers fall to me in the late rounds but take those high-K closers that will allow me to wait on starting pitchers who will fall thanks to lower-than-desirable strikeout rates.

I kind of like how the team turned out.  Do you think so?

My take

Good start. Hate the Mauer pick at 99. Yes, I know, it’s pick 99 for _ sake, but he may be out until mid, to late May and you already had a C with Martinez, though I see you can plug him into your CI spot.

Regarding protecting Avg, that strategy went out the window with picks in rds 13, 14 and 15: Jacobs, Gomez and Crede. Not a fan of either Gomez or Crede…would have targeted J. Anderson and Branyan (he qualifies at 3rd) later.

Love the late Fontenot pick and the Wellemeyer/Wolf picks a little later.

Aside from my earlier critiques, this is a very servicable team in a 16 team league. GL

Mauer.

In hindsight, I think I could have waited another 32 picks. I think Mauer is just anti-inflammorties away from playing. He played through it last season, too.

I was told by my doctor that my back pain was likely sacroiliac, and I’m fine to play softball and pick-up four kids with just the help of over the counter naproxen. And that is the best medical opinion anyone needs!

AVG

At those points in the draft – 200 plus picks in, there is nothing but AVG-neutral-to-harmful hitters unless you wanted to draft players with small counting stats. My strategy was to rcognize that and load-up my early hitters with AVG-strong ones to compensate.

Thoughts

I like the Wandy, Drew, Fontenot, Marshall picks the best. I’d be more worried about HR and RBI than BA. Jacobs may be the only guy to approach 30 HR. Is there a link to the entire draft?
