Checking out the latest Manny Ramirez rumors post by raygu, I was struck by his hypothetical Los Angeles Dodgers line-up and the placement of OF Matt Kemp in the six hole. With Kemp being drafted in the 3rd/4th round (ADP=40), can he earn that value batting near the bottom of the order?
Kemp had 144 ABs from the six hole in 2008. That was the second highest total Kemp accumulated after the lead-off spot, and just a bit more than he had batting second.
Here are his stats in those three spots. Should we worry about Kemp's value as a 3rd/4th round pick if he bats 6th?
| Batting | AB | HR | RBI | BB | SB | BA | OBP | SLG |
| 1st | 187 | 5 | 19 | 16 | 12 | 0.305 | 0.36 | 0.492 |
| 2nd | 131 | 5 | 12 | 7 | 4 | 0.313 | 0.348 | 0.504 |
| 6th | 132 | 3 | 16 | 11 | 7 | 0.28 | 0.34 | 0.417 |
