Raygu's MDC Mock Draft Results

I participated in a mock draft over at Mock Draft Central today and here is how the first two rounds went:

Round 1

1. Alex Rodriguez

2. Albert Pujols

3. Hanley Ramirez

4. Mark Teixeira

5. Matt Kemp

6. Ryan Braun

7. Chase Utley

8. Miguel Cabrera

9. Prince Fielder

10. Ryan Howard

11. Evan Longoria

12. David Wright

Round 2 after the jump:

Star-divide

Round 2

1. Joe Mauer

2. Tim Lincecum

3. Carl Crawford

4. Jacoby Ellsbury

5. Ian Kinsler

6. Grady Sizemore

7. Troy Tulowitzki

8. Mark Reynolds

9. Jimmy Rollins

10, Jason Bay

11. Victor Martinez

12. Zack Greinke

This draft definitely didn't go as I expected, and I don't think there were alot of "autopicks", but I could be wrong.

Mauer would definitly be a first rounder....

The offense for the mets is breaking down, Reyes is not the same player and Delgado his only protection wont play another 120 games next season. Plus at the end of the day you can definitly pull a Mauer for and 2 second rounders you listed. Catchers who hit above 300 and hit 20+ homers and 100+ RBI is a Stud for any fantasy team.

Wright

Can he realy still be a 1st rounder? Am I overreacting to the complete collpase in HRs?

+1

Wright is not a first rounder in my eyes. going from 30-100 to 10-80 is a huge decline. He’s become a second baseman playing the hot corner.
How high does he go in auctions in 2010? $20+ or < $20?

Power isn't lost so abruptly

While he may not be a true 1st rounder anymore, he’s an easy top 2nd rounder. His sharp power decline was so abrupt that it’s hard to imagine that it’s permanent. His home/road ISO splits were pretty even (.136 home, .144 road, vs ..232 in 2008), and the RBI numbers you cite will increase with a better lineup and healthier season. His .300+ BA and 20+ SB’s make him a less sexy but still potent 5-category contributor at a very top-heavy position.

If there was a lingering injury that carries into this season, however, that’s another story…

I agree. Could Wright have been under stress with Reyes, Delgado and Beltran out for an extended amount of time? I’m not buying into a guy suddenly taking an extreme nosedive in his power numbers as a sign of playing in a hitter’s park. There’s really no way to figure out why Wright had such a huge decline and with that in mind, I’m confident Wright will move closer towards his career trend of being a five category stud.

He may not hit 30 home runs, but I certainly think he’ll hit 20.

Bay

Seeing Bay in the 2nd round seems like the dumbing down of the term “elite outfielder”.

especially

when Upton and Holliday went in the 3rd round. I was called away from my desk so my 2nd -8th round picks were autopicks. My autopick took CC in the 3rd. I would have taken Upton for sure.
