Would you Accept this trade?

I am in a 10 team standard football league. You get 1 point for every 15 rushing yards, 1 point for every 20 receiving yards, and 6 points for a touchdown. I can play 2 WR and 2 RB and then a RB/WR flex spot.

The trade offer is: I trade WR Andre Johnson and RB Knowshon Moreno for WR Larry Fitzgerald.

I am pretty deep at RB with Adriane Peterson, Ray Rice, Pierre Thomas, Beanie Wells, and of course Knowshon Moreno.

Not bad at WR either with Donald Driver, Santonio Holmes, and of course Andre Johnson

The thing is, Johnson has not been as consistent as Fitz with getting the touchdowns, which is more important than the yards. Johnson has had 4 touchdowns in 9 games but they came in 2 of those games. Fitzgerald has had 7 touchdowns and they came in 4 of his 7 games. Fitz also has a favorable playoff schedule. My problem is giving up Moreno, if I give him up all I have is Beanie backing up my other 3 running backs, I prefer to play 3 of them every week.

I was also wondering if I really need to change my roster at all being 7-2 and in third place. I really like my roster now but Fitz's week 15 and 16 play is against the Lions and Rams. Johnson's week 15 and 16 play is the Rams and the Dolphins. Moreno also has a nice week 15 going against Oakland. Really not sure if I should do this trade or not, mostly because I do not really want to give up the depth at RB.

I’d do that trade.

This late into the fantasy football season, you should be setting up for your playoff run and there will likely be no weeks you’d start Moreno so it’s basically a swap.. While Johnson has good matchups, Fitzgerald has proven to be the more consistent player this season as well as seasons past.

With Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson, you’re bound to go deep into the fantasy playoffs.

Very close

I’m not hating this deal either way you slice it. It’s fairly even.

There’s other context to consider. What about the guy you’re trading with? Is he a contender? Are you helping his team more than you’re helping your own, and will that ultimately hurt you more in the end?

I’m not sure what the rest of your team looks like, but obviously you’re not hurting at 7-2. And a starting lineup of Peterson and Rice, along with Johnson and Driver with Thomas (flex) is certainly capable of winning a championship with just slightly above-average pieces at the other positions.

Driver is one player that’s confounded me all year. I drafted him last year, then Jennings this year. The Packers offensive line is the unit you can single out as one which is most significantly holding back a good team this year. It’s preventing Jennings from getting downfield for long passes, but Rodgers is still targeting him a good deal. Obviously this is part of the reason why Driver has taken back his production to some extent. Still, Driver only has four touchdowns. Maybe you could convert him and one of your No. 4/5 RBs into a WR like Jackson who score more frequently? Just kicking out some ideas.

Hit us with some more information. I’m still on the fence if ultimately this is the deal you want to make.

Rest of my team is:

QB: Kurt Warner, Jay Cutler.
RB: Jamaal Charles
TE: Antonio Gates
Def: Denver, Green Bay
K: Matt Prater

Ended up not doing the trade for Fitz. The Jackson trade is interesting though. The guy that has Jackson is 3-6 and his best running backs are Mike Bell and Brian Westbrook. He has Desean Jackson at receiver and Drew Brees as QB.

I’m not even against you upgrading Warner slightly by dishing one of those low-end RBs you have and probably won’t use. His remaining schedule may be favorable, I haven’t looked. But if you could land a guy like Brady or Manning who’s probably going to be more consistent, you can likely afford it with the weapons you have.

Doubt I coult pry away either of them.

The person in first place has Manning, and he is a big reason why they are in first place.

The guy that has Brady is in last place and does not pay attention to his team anymore.

Why exactly didn’t you do the trade?

When will you use Moreno this season?

He pulled the trade back before I could accept it.

I am still a little worried with Pierre Thomas. Reggie Bush and Mike Bell are stealing carries in the redzone. Moreno has been getting more and more carries as the season has gone on.

I see no reason why your team isn’t already a playoff team. I wouldn’t be too worried at this point.

By the way, Warner over time has been one of the best producers in the second half of the season. Read that somewhere or other a few days ago, as food for thought.

Little worried with Pierre Thomas.

Thomas absolutely killed me last week. Would you still play him this week against the Tampa D or should I go with Beanie Wells against St Louis?

Yea, Warner does seem to get better as the season goes along. Of course it also helps now that just about every team he faces has a weak secondary.

I think I am in the playoffs, mostly because of the balance of teams in our league. Most of the teams are either really really good, or really really bad. I am currently in third with my team at 7-3.

Wells saw his carries increase slightly from Weeks 7-9, and then fall again. Now, again, over the last three weeks his carries have steadily risen.

I think that Thomas and Wells are somewhere both between the 10-15 RB range this week. I’ve seen Thomas ranked higher some places, and I’m not sure if I disagree, if only because of who’s around him, but whenever a guy is only getting 15 touches at most, it really limits production. Still, I think you have to put him out there. You drafted him to be a stud, and he hasn’t exactly disappointed. I think he can probably grind out 70 yards and a TD.

Let’s hope your top two RBs keep producing, I have the same pair.

I was most likely going to start Thomas but I think your right. He should get 70 yards and a TD this week. Hopefully he does anyways cause I really need it going 1-3 in my past 4 games and playing the number 1 ranked team at 8-1.

I think I am just annoyed that if I had played Beanie instead of Thomas that I would have won last week.
