NLCS Question: What Was Joe Torre Thinking?

The only reason why I am writing this article is because of a decision Joe Torre made to start Hiroki Kuroda in game 3 of the NLCS in Philadelphia. Otherwise, I would be watching the rest of the Phillies-Dodgers game. I questioned alot of Torre's decisions in 2008, but not so much in 2009. But his decision to start Kuroda after not pitching for a month has me scratching my head.

Torre will certainly be grilled by the LA media after Kuroda lasted 1 1/3 innings last night in Philadelphia after giving up 6 runs on 6 hits. I think Chad Billingsley could have pitched better than that, but he is in Torre's doghouse, and no one knows how that will affect him in 2010.

Should Torre have started Hiroki Kuroda in game 3 of the NLCS last night?

Crazy

I dont know if i would go as far as to say Torre was crazy. Kuroda had good numbers throughout the year…and his last five or so starts were pretty good if you take out his loss to the pirates. Billingsly had decent stats two but i think the choice was really a toss up. You have one of them start and the other be ready to go in for relief. Torre just picked wrong this time.
