MLB Rumors: Manny Ramirez And Adam Dunn

Nick Carfado of the Boston Globe reports the San Francisco Giants have offered Manny Ramirez a three-year contract with an option for a 4th season.  However, there is no dollar figure accompanying the report.

Staying with West Coast news from the East Coast Boston Globe, Mr. Carfado also reports Adam Dunn is Plan B for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the event Manny Ramirez really has a second serious suitor.  With James Loney at 1B and really inexpensive, I'm not convinced Dunn would be a great signing for the Dodgers at anything more than a one- or two-year deal.

Wherever Manny signs, I don't see any effect on his fantasy value with the almost-unneeded-to-say fact he won't hit as well over a full season in LA as he did in the two months he spent there last season.  However, I would have some concern Adam Dunn's streak of 40-HR seasons could end if he is no longer hitting in freidnly confines for 81 games a season.

Manny and Dunn

Yes, expecting Manny to hit like he did the last two months would be record breaking, I would think.
Re: Dunn, there is an article in The Hardball Times Annual written by Greg Rybarczyk titled-Dodger Stadium: Launching Pad in Waiting. The title of the article obviously grabbed my attention, but he does some analysis on how many HRs Manny and Dunn would hit in Dodger stadium in 2009-MAnny would hit 41 bombs, while Dunn would hit 49 bombs. Tha analysis was done based on all of Dunn’s long fly balls for the past 3 years.

Argument against Park Factors

If Chavez Ravine is really a HR park, then the whole world has lying eyes, no?

Park Factors

According to these, Chavez Ravine has been fairly neutral over the poast three seasons. Conicidently, those are the post-PED years.

All prior history had CR as a pitcher’s park.

agree

one of the reasons why Ned signed Andruw last year was because alot of his flyballs would have left Dodger stadium….ha!! he has to hit the ball first.
as for manny and dunn…..I think Manny could go 35 or so, and Dunn could hit 40 in Dodger stadium.

Not too critical

Even if Dunn hit 35 as a Dodger, that would still rank amongst the elite HR totals.
