The Backlash Against Favre Isn't Limited To Fantasy Owners
The latest word out of New York is that Brett Favre is considering whether or not to return to the Jets, and that the Jets absolutely want him back.
Well, maybe ALL the Jets.
Running back Thomas Jones publicly tore into Favre over the holiday, essentially saying he should have been benched for Kellen Clemons.
"If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game," Jones told Hot 97 FM. "You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not [fair]."
Favre averaged 202 passing yards per game in the final five games, with a TOTAL of 2 TDs and 9 INTs over that stretch.
Meanwhile, the guy they booted out of town to make way for His Majesty Brett Favre went on to lead the Dolphins to a division title and won Comeback Player of the Year.
Nice job Jets.
I don't think that Favre will be back with the Jets next year, but if he is it has to be a considered a factor that will reduce the fantasy value of all Jets. He's destined for Canton, but he's not getting it done right now.

I cannot get rid of the idea that the Jets would have been better off with Pennignton or Clemens. Both would have seemlessly fit into the system Mangini wanted to run. Instead, the Jets brought in Favre in the beginning of August and all the planning and developemtn over the previous two years went out the door.
Favre won’t be back. He just doesn’t fit the system.

The What If Game?
So do Jets fans stare at the 2008 NFL Draft Results and ask themselves what might have been if Mike Tannenbaum was as smart as Ozzie Newsome? Joe Flacco or Vernon Gholston? A QB of the present and future or who knows what type of player Gholston is going to turn into?
I’m not trying to say the Jets make the playoffs if they draft Flacco, having that tremendous Baltimore defense obviously helped a great deal, but I will say it’s no sure thing they make the playoffs if they keep Pennington either. Why did they dump Pennington in the first place? Injury prone and noodle armed is not the first thing you look for in a franchise QB, correct?
Or an even better what if question? How about that overtime victory in the last week of the 2007 season against the KC Chiefs? That’s right Jets fans, that win cost them at least 3 spots in the draft and the potential to draft Matt Ryan, you know the other rookie QB to lead his team to the playoffs this year. Ouch.
Same guy, new name.
