Peralta or Alexei Ramirez
I am new to this site, but recently posed this question on a different site geared more towards prospects. I'm curious if a site geared towards established major leaguers would yield a different result. In my fantasy league, hitters compete in the following usual categories - avg, hr, rbi, sb, but also in walks and fielding percentage. Given that, who would you rather have, both for this year, and perhaps the next two or three years - Jhonny Peralta or Alexei Ramirez?

Next couple of years
suggests that this is a keeper league and in that instance, I’d take Ramirez for his upside. Displayed good pop and better basestealing ability than Peralta. If he stays near the top of the lineup, I think he matches or bests Peralta across the board, except for RBI’s.

Alexei
He offers SBs and power close enough to Peralta. Whoever stays at SS the longest would be the most valuable. Each will qualify through 2010.

Alexei
If he hits leadoff and you give Orlando Cabrera’s at bats his season would have translated to 28 home runs and about 18 steals.
Peralta might not even be eligible at short in 2 years.
