NL-Only Keeper Help (and Managerial Openings)
A two-part post. First, I am looking for keeper help since in my league I can keep 15 and have 18-20 that warrant consideration. For background, we maintain rosters of 25 active players and play "traditional" 5x5 categories...12 teams in the league & a $280 salary cap. I have several no-brainer keepers (Braun $21, R Martin $14, Utley $16, Pence $6, J Upton $4, E Dukes $1, Gallardo $5, Scherzer $1) but would value input from readers here on the following...who would you keep and -- if you have time -- why/ why not?
J Schafer $1, J Rauch $1, P Sandoval $10, M Gamel $7, C Carrasco $1, L Castillo $6, C Barmes $10, J Lannan $10, J Hanrahan $11.
I can keep four from that group and am currently leaning toward Sandoval, Schafer, Carrasco & Gamel. Tough to throw Rauch back but he's not really worth a roster spot if he's not a closer. Does Hanrahan close this season for WAS?
Also, in my league we have rare openings (two) this season and if you're interested and could attend a live auction draft in Santa Barbara, CA post a note and I'll touch base with you... It's a great league with a 20-year history (I've been in it for 11 years).
Thanks!

Hanrahan
The former Dodgers’ prospect is still the closer in Washington. He has the Ks from the bullpen to be a valuable pitching asset as a reliever

Thanks
I do like his K rate but ratios scare me a bit…they’re higher than most closers’. Also I’ve read that C Cordero is throwing again…assuming he’s still WAS property on Opening Day, might they feel compelled to hand him 9th inning duties again (higher paid, bigger name, etc.)?
I appreciate the response.

Duh...
Just did the homework I should have done before asking about Cordero and see that he was cut by Washington already. CBS is projecting Hanrahan to have 21 saves, which would make him a no-brainer in my league. Thanks again…appreciate the input.

agree
with your choices, and Eric’s analysis on Hanrahan. So….Pablo, Schafer, Gamel and Hanrahan….would be my keepers.

NL-Only
I might be interested and I know some one else that might be too. Can you email me the league info and if we take over existing teams?

League details
I don’t see an email address in your profile…mine is doug.mcfarling@amec.com
Quick summary:
25-man rosters (15 H, 10 P), $280 cap
Weekly transactions (Mondays)
$130 entry fee, then $7.50 for FA pickups/waiver claims, $1.50 for trades ($100 FAAB after AS Break)
Live auction draft in Santa Barbara, CA (4/4/09 this year)
We sign players to 3-year contracts, drafted players must be “property” of an NL team (no $1 A-rod bids)
At the end of an original contract, players can be Long Termed for $5/year
The two rosters available for “inheritance” are mid-tier…not great but not terrible…can keep up to 15, as few as zero
That’s a quick summary. Let me know if you’re still interested…
Thanks

P, however, IS generic (i.e., no distinction btwn RP/SP)
Also, it’s a 5×5, as stated above
