ESPN: Chat with Baseball America's John Manuel - SportsNation
James (Redondo Beach, CA): Seems like it's a down year, stat wise in the NL. In a case like this, given where the Dodgers were versus where they are now, shouldn't Manny get some love for NL MVP?John Manuel: (2:17 PM ET ) Not to open a huge MVP can o' worms, but I don't see how a guy can be MVP when he quit on a team.

agreed
but, what is the difference between what Manny did and someone in the business world who finds another job, puts in his two weeks notice, and gives 50% effort for those last two weeks?
I don’t think he should win it, but I don’;t see why he can’t be considered. It also speaks to the lack of a slam dunk MVP candidate, although what Ryan Howard has accomplished over the last month or so may put him at the top of the MVP race in the NL.
May he continue to break the backs of Mets fans.
