Who's Ready For The Fake Teams Fantasy Football League?

You may have noticed a new advertisement on the site -- Register to win a chance to play fantasy football with SBNation bloggers.  Sounds pretty cool, right?  It would sound very cool except for the part where THEY LEFT US OUT!!!

The marketing agreement with AOL only covered the 32 SBNation NFL blogs.  In a stroke of marketing genius, they held a fantasy sports competition and forgot to invite the fantasy sports blog.  And then they still put the ad on our blog!  How's that for a kick in the head?

Despite being a little insulted, we're not too proud to jump on the bandwagon.  So we're going to have a Fake Teams Fantasy Football League and host it on AOL.  Actually, AOL purchased Fleaflicker.com to handle their FFL leagues, so to be exact we'll be holding it there.  I've never used Fleaflicker myself, but I poked around this morning and it looks pretty decent.  It has live scoring, flexible rules, and it's free.  We'll give the site a workout and see if it's any good. You will have to register a username account with AOL, but that's free as well.

We'll keep it simple  -- there's no need to "register to win" or any of that jive.  If you want to play, just leave a comment and if there's still room, you're in.  Fleaflicker supports larger leagues -- up to 24 teams! -- but I think a 16 team league is probably the largest size that's practical so for now we'll limit it to that.  I'm reserving a slot for Eric and one for myself,  that leaves 14 more.  We'll schedule a live draft sometime in mid-late August.

You know, now that I think about it, if there's an overwhelming response we can extend the league to more than 16 teams.  A 24 team fantasy league would really be a test of skill.   Hmm.  Oh yeah, there will also be a football-related prize for the winner of the league as well.

So...who's in?
