Clayton Kershaw And The Biggest Surprise In The AL

The biggest news in fantasy baseball yesterday was the major league debut of Los Angeles Dodgers' LHP Clayton Kershaw.  Against the most patient team in the National League (237 walks), Kershaw went six innings and struck out seven with just one walk.  If there wasn't a rush to claim him in fantasy baseball leagues everywhere, yesterday's performance changed that.

The Chicago White Sox continue to lead the AL Central, and one of the biggest reasons is OF Carlos Quentin.  He hit two home runs against Angels' ace John Lackey to take the American League lead in the category with 14.

Coming into the season, very few fantasy owners thought he'd hit that many HRs this soon.  As a result, he has a draft value well below his 2008 actual value.  Is he this season's biggest surprise on offense?

Does Carlos Quentin have the best chance to retain his current value for next year's drafts?
Yes. While Josh Hamilton excels, he was expected to do so.

No. There are too many pitchers excelling to think Quentin will have better draft value in 2009.
