Wandy Rodriquez Sleeper

I have watched this guy closely for a year and a half now. In 2006 he had some very good games and 2007 he built on that success.  In my opinion he has above average stuff and has learned to pitch.  He will be 29 Years old this season entering his 4th complete season.....In my opinion he is primed to have a break out year.......

Year  ERA   IP     H    BB  Whip   K's
2005  5.53  128.2  135  53  1.46   80
2006  5.64  135.2  154  63  1.60   98
2007  4.58  182.2  179  62  1.32   158

I am aware of his Home/Road splits, 2.94 Home vs. 6.37 Road.  That is a huge differences....But I like his chances of being closer to Home then Away pitcher....since he plays in hitter friendly Home park. His day/Night splits are even (4.46 V 4.61)and Lefty vs Righties are even also (.252 V .254)...

Less then a hit per inning (182/179) walks are the same(62/63) but nearly 50 more innings pitched and K/9 when up too.......

I am going on record now to say Wandy is a player to grab....think Oswalt....yes I said it....Oswalt but with better K's.

Ahhh
I see oyu hit the crack pipe once too often!

I like Wandy as well, but you went way overboard on the Oswalt comp.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/r/rodriwa01.shtml

Just so we can see some comps, I've included the above link from baseball-reference

Comps include such vaunted names as:
Runelvys Hernandez
Jim Parque
Darrell May

And Wandy and Oswalt only belong in the same conversation when talking about team pitching staffs.
Nothing else.

+1
I had the reaction to the Oswalt comp.  However, Oswalt has struck about 160 batters in over 200 innings in each of the past two seasons.

Oswalt
His K's are dropping fast. Last 4 years:
04' 206
05' 186
06' 166
07' 154

all with 200 Plus innings.

Oswalt is losing speed on his Fastball, he is on his way down....
I realize its a bold prediction, but the signs are there...maybe Im wrong, but how many "sleepers actually wake up?  This isa DEEp sleeper, something for those playing in deep NL Only drafts...

Trade
I was not protecting him b/c I know I could have got him for $1. Still may, the team I sent him to may not even protect him....now you know a great sleeper......

Reyes
you're keeping him at $52?? who is going to drive him in other than Beltran and Wright? that lineup has gotten weaker....lucky they have solid starting pitchers.
