MLB Trade Rumors: Mark Teixeira to the Boston Red Sox
John Perrotto at Baseball Prospectus offers the juiciest of rumors involving 1B mark Teixeira and the Boston Red Sox. He writes:
The Red Sox plan to outbid everyone, including the Yankees and Angels, for free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira, unless someone comes in with an offer of $200 million or more.
I've added the italics, but this is the first I've read or heard such an uneqivocal statement regarding Teixeira's 2009 home.
Mr. Perrotto also drops a rumor of Kansas City Royals' OF David DeJesus to the New York Yankees for 2B Robinson Cano. For the Yankees to deal Cano for an OF who the Royals replaced with Coco Crisp strikes me as a sign that the Yankees admit it was a mistake to extend Cano last winter.

O doggy
if your going to say im getting Orlando Hudson with Dejesus for Cano, then i say do it in a heartbeat,if your saying im getting Nick Punto,Grudz or Mark Loretta with Dejesus I’ll have to pass and let Brett Gardner start the season and let it play out to see if Austin Jackson is ready or a trade pops up.
Maturity
on Cano’s part is something that will come, in time. The skills are there, he just needs to stop reading hi spress clippings that anoited him the next Rod Carew in 2006!
David DeJesus is a guy that is what he is…not a lot of steals, not a lot of power, but a good 4th OF on a pennant contending team….
And all long term deals
that teams sign, at some point, look very, very bad. Locking in the losses on Cano would be akin to buying Citi at 40, holding it until it trades at $4, and then selling. That is just dumb, unless it is tax time and you need to offset some gains.
