I am usually all for keith Law. His chats are good, analysis is usally good, but this quote is somewhat troubling:
Keith: I was curious how much you take into account "intangibles" when evaluating a young player's chances to succeed. For example, Jon Lester has obviously shown a lot by coming back from cancer and has also shown the ability to pitch with guys on base. Is this kind of thing something you take into account, or is it just too difficult to quantify?
Keith Law: (1:09 PM ET ) I don't consider it. There's too much room for BS. And Lester "showing a lot" ... what does that mean? Did you expect him to not fight for his life?
Doesn't have anything to do with Lester being involved either. To totally ignore makeup is a dangerous way to live in the scouting world.
