from rotoworld:
Albert Pujols, speaking publicly Monday for the first time since last month's erroneous news report that linked him to performance-enhancing drugs, expressed his frustration about the rumors.
"I know we're in a dark cloud of steroids, (but) now people are going to second-guess my numbers because of some guy starting something that wasn't the truth," Pujols said. "I know I will forgive whoever did it. I forgive them. But there is nothing they can do to clean this up. They ruined my image," he said. Pujols also admitted he was very close to undergoing an elbow operation after last season, but opted against it when he learned how long it would shelve him. He says his hamstring and calf injuries have healed, but Pujols did concede that should the elbow woes flare up again, he won't play through pain again like he did in 2007.
The key point here is the very last sentence where Albert says he won't play through the pain if his elbow injury flares up again. Fantasy/roto players have to factor this into their upcoming drafts, and figure out who will benefit should Pujols go on the DL for any stretch during the 2008 season. I imagine Chris Duncan's value will increase prior to drafts due to Albert's statements.
