Using the Find function in Adobe Acrobat, I searched for each name in the early morning list that sped through the internet. Of the 74 named players on the list, 55.4% were named in the report.
How this list was complied before being leaked to WNBC.com is not known right now. However, the spelling mistakes could be a result of a rushed effort to copy them and send it out as quickly as possible.
I am not surprised at the precision of the list. I am more surprised that suspected cheats like Brady Anderson were not in the Mitchell Report, but maybe these are amongst the "Many persons declined our requests for an interview, including many former players who are alleged to have used banned substances; central figures in the BALCO investigation; and, as noted earlier, over fifty current players from whom we sought interviews."
Either way, I do not believe this report to be the end of steroids speculation.
