Future SB guys

I have notice 2 thinks recently in a keeper league I am.

  1. SB's are over valued
  2. Predicting future SB leaders is tough.
Oviously some are easy to predict as the come up. Reyes for one although he was so bad lst year leading off people thought he may lose it.

So my question for the group is what Minor leaguers are going to bust out and be SB threats in the future?

check the managers first
Some minor leaguers are very good base stealers but their MLB managers have them bolted to the bases.  Check with the manager tendancies as well as the players coming up.

FWIW- whoever wins the CF job for the Bucs next season, Duffy or McLouth, could surprise with some sb's.  I noticed today both players were in the lineup while Nady played 1b.  This could give some extra ab's to the OF guys.  Bautista did not get into the game though.

But Pitt is last in SB
Oakland even has more attempts. IS this just product of club or manager.

probably club
Jim Tracy is not a super fan of stolen bases and the Dodgers ranked next to last in that dept. in the NL last season when he was their manager.  But his Dodger teams usually were ranked somewhere in the middle of the pack in stolen bases during his tenure.  In 2004 when they made the play-offs the Dodgers ranked 9th overall in MLB with 102 sb's.  I would suspect that the Pirates being pretty young and most of the sb type guys on that team have fairly low OBP's and hitless streaks contribute quite a bit to the Bucs not attempting steals.  As an old saying goes, you gotta get on base if you want to steal.  McLouth and Duffy both have OBP's under .300.  Jason Bay being behind his 21 sb pace of last season is a bit of a concern though.

future SB guys
Grady Little loves to let his guys run...pick up Kemp if starting, he has at least 20-20 written all over him, and Russell Martin-a base stealing catcher who should get 10+ playing a full season. Brandon Phillips on Cincy should only get better as he is still a youngster.

FUTURE SB GUY
IF NED YOST DIDNT HAVE SOMETHING AGAINST CORY HART (23 YEARS OLD) HE WOULD PROVIDE 30 SB PER YEAR IF GIVEN A CHANCE TO PLAY.
HE WAS 20 HR AND 30 SB PER YEAR IN MOST YEARS IN THE MINORS AND EVEN WON MVP IN 2003 IN THE MINORS

THE BREWERS SEEMS TO BE DOING THE BILL HALL TREATMENT ON HART. AS EARLY AS LAST OFF SEASON BREWERS TRY TO HOLD HALL DOWN WITH THE SIGNING OF KOSKIE TO TAKE HIS POSITION, DEPSITE HIS GREAT YEAR IN 2004 AND NOW HE IS A SUPER STAR.

IN MILWAUKEE. THEY SEEM TO BE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE FROM HOLDING THIS FUTURE STAR DOWN, GRAB HART IN KEEPER LEAGUES.

Buck?
Buck Showalter just doesn't have the texas Rangers run.

If he did, or when they change managers, Freddy Guzman would be a good source of Ambien OD stolen bases.
